About the job

We are looking for a family therapist for our strengthened family-oriented initiative, Familiens Hus.

Do you have an eye for dynamics, contexts and connections in children’s and families’ lives and daily life, and do you have experience translating this insight into changes in the families? Then please read on.

We are seeking a colleague from January 1, 2027 to handle complex treatment and change tasks with children and families in close collaboration with the actors around them.

How do we work?

We are a small offering with three experienced family therapists, where you will be the fourth. Our tasks often involve a high degree of complexity, and the level of concern for the children, who are between 5 and 12 years old, is high.

The tasks in each family have a supportive and developmental purpose and are allocated according to the Child Act § 32.

The children and families we meet are affected by many different challenges. Therefore you must be able to work with a wide range of issues, including social vulnerability, addiction, physical and psychological violence in the family, mental illness and distress, with a basis in diagnoses, family dynamics, attachment challenges and isolation.

Our practice rests on three core elements

Family-oriented

We work relationally from a systemic understanding of the family and its dynamics. Our methods range from family-therapeutic to guiding social-pedagogical approaches. We work with both the whole family and with parents alone.

Our goal is to strengthen the bond between child and parents and to make the family better able to create and maintain a recognizable and structured everyday life that supports the child’s need for safety and care.

Child-oriented

We work closely with the children and actively involve them in the interventions. Our practice is relationship- and attachment-conscious, playful, activity-based and experiential.

We want to create practice arenas for the child in the areas where it is difficult to practice on their own. In addition, we offer communities for the children in Familiens Hus through group-based methods.

Community- and network-oriented

We have a close dialogue with school, daycare and other arenas in the child’s life. We see it as an important part of our task to contribute to the child’s inclusion in communities.

We collaborate with the family on involving both private and professional networks and support the mapping of resources around the family and the child, so the network can become a helpful support for both child and family.

As a family therapist in Familiens Hus you will join a daily life that requires high professional standards and your ability to coordinate and plan the work. You must be able to create development based on children’s and families’ life situations and preferences by meeting them where they are when the need arises.

Our work is based at Familiens Hus on Tranegårdsvej 77 in Gentofte. We also work in the families’ homes and at the arenas in the child’s and family’s life where our intervention is necessary. All of this in close collaboration and dialogue with the family’s child and youth counselor.

Organizationally and managerially, we are part of FamilieCentret.

You will receive external supervision as a natural part of the work at Familiens Hus.

Your strengths and qualifications – who are you?

We want a colleague who

  • Has a curious and exploratory approach to methods and practice and wants to reflect on their own practice together with colleagues, partners and management.
  • Is clear and can stand firm in supporting children and families as well as maintain professional courage, even when the waves are high.
  • Has a particular eye for involving and making the child’s voice visible in the processes.
  • Is sharp in documenting interventions and communicating this, as this is a cornerstone in the overall change work.
  • Is good at seeing the child, the family and their situation from different perspectives and thus consciously adjusts or changes methods and approaches in the individual case.
  • Can work independently with a flexible approach to task solving, where you plan the work and working hours based on the family’s needs. However, the work never starts before 06:30 or ends after 22:30 on weekdays. We are aware that flexibility also requires that daily life hangs together for the individual employee.

Since we are a small team, where management is not with us daily, you must be able to work closely with your nearest colleagues. This applies both to task solving, where we typically work in pairs, and to well-being and the working environment.

We place great emphasis on and strive to create a strong work community characterized by mutual respect, where we can be serious and laugh together.

We are in the process of implementing a new service description. Therefore you must be able to actively participate in implementation and development work to ensure that Familiens Hus continues to be a qualified and helpful service to residents of Gentofte Municipality.

We expect you to have a relevant educational background, preferably complemented with further training and/or experience in family therapy and practices aimed at children’s and families’ well-being.

If you can see yourself in the above, we would very much like to hear from you.

The fine print

The position is 37 hours per week and paid according to the current agreement (PFF) as well as individual qualifications.

The application deadline is November 13, 2026 at 12:00, and interviews will be held on Monday November 23, 2026.

Application with relevant attachments, including certificates, is sent electronically via the link on the page.
