Favrskov Municipality seeks one respite worker for a 10-year-old boy – Søften

We are looking for one engaged and warm-hearted person who wants to make a difference in everyday life and on weekends for a boy with ADHD and autism.

About the child

The boy lives in Søften with his mother, father and younger sister and attends a special class at Præstemarkskolen. He has been assessed with ADHD and autism and needs to be shielded from noise and many people. The boy has difficulty participating in social events, for example family birthdays on weekends. The boy is very mild and usually in a good mood. He is not outwardly aggressive, but withdraws when his cup is full.

His interests are cars, electronics, LEGO, gaming (Minecraft/Farming Simulator), household chores (cleaning, cooking) - and he loves working in the garden, e.g. digging in the soil or building small wood projects.

Your role

As a respite carer you will be an important and safe adult in the boy's life. You shall

• Create a recognizable and predictable frame around the activities.
• Be present and clear in your approach.
• Adapt activities and companionship to the boy's needs and daily form.
• Have patience and understanding that development occurs in small steps.

We are looking for a person who

• Is stable and mature.
• Is good with children and preferably over 21 years old.
• Can follow the child's initiative while also creating calm and an overview.
• Thrive working closely with the family and in domestic settings.
• Willingly shares the boy's interests.

Working hours and employment terms

The respite care is on both weekdays and weekends.

The hours must be shared with two current respite carers.

• Pick up at Præstemarkskolen in Søften one day a week at 12:45 and stay at home until 16:00.
• Care on weekends as needed, but a maximum of 12 hours per month.

In connection with the employment, a child and criminal record check will be obtained. The employment is desired as soon as possible. Your application for the job as a respite carer is sent directly to the family. If your qualifications are relevant, the family will invite you to an interview. The job advertisement is removed when the family has found the right respite carer.

Favrskov Municipality can only accept applications sent electronically. It is a condition of employment that the person we wish to hire has not been convicted of offenses that make him/her unsuitable to hold the position. A criminal record check will therefore be obtained for the candidate who is offered employment.
