About the job

We are seeking an experienced and independent employee who has a solid grasp of finances and a desire to contribute broadly to the work in the Student Advisory Secretariat.

You will have a central role in our work with budgeting, accounting and financial follow-up. At the same time, you will be part of a small secretariat where we help each other make everyday life run smoothly for management, staff and students.

The position is based in the Student Advisory Secretariat, which consists of five employees. In total we are around 55 employees spread across several locations in the country. The secretariat covers a wide range of tasks, and we place emphasis on both taking responsibility for our own areas and being able to step in across tasks.

Your main tasks

Your professional focus will be on economics. You will among other things

  • work with budgeting, accounting and ongoing financial follow-up
  • prepare quarterly follow-ups and create a clear financial overview for management
  • follow up on deviations and contribute to explaining what the numbers mean for our finances and priorities
  • contribute to the annual report and other financial deliverables
  • handle invoicing and tasks related to advances and travel settlements

You will perform the tasks in collaboration with the director, your colleagues and our external financial support. We expect you to keep the ongoing financial tasks together, follow up and involve others when needed.

Part of the job also lies outside the financial area. You must be able to participate in daily operational administration and, by agreement, contribute to the secretariat’s other operations that require someone to find a solution and follow it through. Examples include purchasing, data reports, student inquiries or practical support of the advisory services.

The concrete task distribution is agreed with a view to your and colleagues’ competencies and the tasks the secretariat as a whole must solve. You should be eager to have both your own professional area of responsibility and be part of the joint task solving.

Who are you?

You have a relevant education or experience that has given you a solid understanding of economics, budgeting and accounting. You could for example be office-trained with financial experience, have an economics or administration education or have built your competences through practice.

The crucial thing is that you work confidently with numbers and can take independent responsibility for the ongoing financial tasks. You are familiar with Excel and financial systems and can understand how information hangs together across systems and workflows. Experience with Navision Stat will be an advantage but not a prerequisite.

We particularly emphasize that you

  • work thoroughly and structurally and follow up on agreements and deadlines
  • can explain financial matters clearly and understandably
  • spot when something is not right, and investigate what lies behind
  • have an eye for the connections between economy, personnel and daily operations
  • are helpful and solution-oriented and make it easy for others to seek your help
  • take responsibility for solving tasks together with colleagues, even when they cross the agreed division of work
  • are keen to learn new areas and contribute with your experience to good, simple processes.

We do not expect you to be able to solve the tasks from day one and you do not need to know our systems from the start. But we expect you to be curious, ask when you are unsure, and take responsibility for moving the task forward.

We offer

  • A versatile job with independent responsibility for finances and close collaboration on the secretariat’s other tasks
  • Good colleagues who are happy to share knowledge and help each other
  • Close contact with management and the opportunity to see how your work contributes to the organization’s mission
  • An employer that places emphasis on mutual flexibility
  • Good professional development opportunities, including relevant continuing education
