About the job

Do you have experience teaching PhD students about their careers? Are you interested in the career opportunities for young researchers? Then you may be the colleague we are looking for.

Become an important participant in KU's work with young researchers

Are you an experienced career consultant who can both develop new career programs, teach and conduct individual career conversations? Do you want to build the career area in a large, complex organization? Can you create strong collaborative relationships across organizational boundaries? Then you may be the career consultant we are looking for.

As a career consultant you, together with a colleague, will share the responsibility for further developing and making visible Copenhagen University's overall effort in the career area for younger researchers.

Your work will range from strategic implementation to individual career conversations, and you will help ensure that KU's young researchers are equipped to handle their further careers and bring their academic expertise into play in the job market - both within and outside academia. You will collaborate closely with other parts of the organization on career development initiatives.

What will your tasks be?

As a career consultant you will be a central driving force in the development and delivery of career services for KU's younger researchers. You will help strengthen career learning and development for the target group across the university – through both individual programs, common activities and strategic collaborations.

The primary task is to plan and carry out career courses and workshops for PhD students and postdocs with a focus on career development, career clarity and transition to the next job. Courses and workshops must equip participants to manage their careers and bring their academic expertise into play in the job market.

In addition, the position contributes to the continued development of the career team's offerings to early career researchers at KU. This is done in close collaboration with the team's 2 other career consultants.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have a strong professional career guidance expertise, and who are motivated to make a difference for younger researchers in a complex, international and academic context. You thrive on switching between strategic development work and hands-on facilitation, and you are curious about new ways to strengthen career learning in the university world.

To succeed in the position you have

  • Experience with teaching and facilitation of learning programs.
  • Familiarity with researcher education as well as career paths for researchers in and outside the university sector.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently, structured and systematic.
  • Relevant master's degree
  • Speak and write both Danish and English at a very high level – as you must be able to teach and advise in English, but operate in a Danish organizational context.

This is what you will be part of

The HR organization supports several hundred leaders, about 10,000 employees and a diverse organization with an ambitious strategy. With a deputy director at the helm, the corporate unit handles a number of specialties and strategic focus areas. There is an emphasis on creating additional development in the HR area with a focus on delivering good service where the organization needs it most. We are concerned that value creation and development in the HR area happen in close connection to the university's organization and core tasks.

You will become one of the 14 employees in the Organizational Development section, in the HR Development and Strategy area of the KU HR corporate unit. You will have personnel reference to the section manager Marianne Nielsen.

Qualifications

You have a master's degree and ideally have taken relevant continuing education. You have experience from similar tasks.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is to commence on January 1, 2027, and expire on December 31, 2027. The average weekly working time is 25 hours.

Employment will be as a special consultant under the applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Academics in the State (AC agreement). There will be an opportunity to negotiate supplements based on qualifications.
