Do you want to create relationships that make a difference for a child?

As a volunteer matcher, you create the framework for a relationship that can make a difference.

In 2 Timers a Week we match multilingual children aged 3–8 with volunteer adults who meet with them every week. The goal is to give the children more confidence in the Danish language and strengthen their belief in their own abilities.

Right now we are looking for volunteer matchers in Horsens, Aarhus and Odense.

What does the matcher role entail?

As a matcher you are an important link between children, families and volunteers. You build the bridge, set the frame and create safety.

You

• Hold initial conversations with volunteers and families
• Assess and establish strong matches
• Participate in the first meeting between the child, the family and the volunteer
• Follow up and create the framework for a safe and meaningful relationship

Why is your role important?

Some children need extra support with language and to find their footing in school and everyday life. Here, a strong relationship can make a world of difference – for both the child and the family.

A good match can

• Strengthen the child’s language and well-being
• Give the child greater familiarity with Danish culture
• Create safety in new communities
• Support the family in finding their footing in everyday life in Denmark

Who are you?

You do not need a specific education – the most important is that you

• Want to work with people
• Are responsible and can create trust and safe surroundings
• Are curious about other life situations
• Have a high degree of flexibility

It is an advantage if you work or study within the social, pedagogical or humanistic field, but it is not a requirement.

You may be experienced in your field and want to bring your competences into play in new ways or keep them up-to-date through a meaningful voluntary engagement. You can also be a student and want to gain study-relevant experience with relational and social work.

Wherever you are in life, the most important is that you are responsible, have an awareness of cultural differences and want to make a real difference.

In 2 Timers a Week multilingual children aged 3-8 meet engaged volunteer adults who, through presence, support and shared experiences, contribute to their linguistic, social and personal development. The relationships are built on trust, safety and respect and help the children on the path to better schooling and better prospects of completing a secondary education.
