Functional Manager for Logistics Service at OUH Svendborg and Nyborg Hospital – porter function

We are seeking a functional leader for the Logistics Department, Logistics Service, who will have overall responsibility for personnel management of about 40 porters at OUH Svendborg and Nyborg Hospital.

You will become the leader of an experienced team with a good culture and effective collaboration. Your main task will be to provide clear direction, support the well-being and professional development of employees, and build on the strengths that already exist in the porter function.

We imagine that you have solid leadership experience, ideally from an operation-heavy organization where personnel management and collaboration are crucial for success.

About the position

As the function leader for the porter function you will be part of an engaged leadership group in Logistics Service. You will receive:

• People management responsibility for about 40 porters.
• A deputy, several internship supervisors and a professional duty planner who support the execution of tasks.
• Close collaboration with two other functional leaders and the section head for Logistics Service.
• Fixed place in the section's leadership team, where you together work on priorities, finances, operations and development.
• Ongoing 1:1 meetings with the section head about your leadership role and the function's results.

You report to the Section Head of Logistics Service in the Logistics Department.

Porter function – your daily life and your area of responsibility

Porters solve a wide range of tasks that support patient care and the hospital's daily operation. The tasks include among others:

• Transport, transfer, positioning and mobilization of patients as well as support for patient rehabilitation.
• Transport of samples from clinics and between the Funen hospitals.
• Tasks related to trauma and cardiac arrest.
• Transport of clothing, meals, medicines and treatment devices as well as waste handling.

As the function leader you are responsible for ensuring that the function has the right frameworks and competencies to solve the tasks safely and efficiently with the patient first. Coordinators and the duty planner support daily operations. Your primary task is therefore to ensure clear personnel leadership, create good conditions for employees and set the direction for the function's continued development.

Your main tasks

You should first and foremost

• Exert clear and engaging personnel leadership with a focus on well-being, the working environment and competence development.
• Actively involve employees and create frameworks for their experience, expertise and ideas to be translated into good solutions.
• Contribute to recruitment and retention of employees and ensure that the function has the right competences.
• Identify and realize improvement opportunities based on employees' knowledge, data and The South Denmark Improvement Model.
• Ensure that the function's tasks are organized and staffed appropriately in close collaboration with coordinators and the duty planner.
• Make necessary operational decisions within the financial framework in collaboration with the section head.

Special tasks in the first year

In the first year you will, among other things, have the opportunity to contribute to two larger tasks:

The reconstruction of Nyborg Hospital

You actively participate in the reconstruction and contribute to ensuring that the porter function's tasks and workflows are integrated into the new physical framework.

The Master Plan for Svendborg Hospital

You familiarize yourself with the upcoming master plan and contribute to translating it into concrete logistics and porter solutions.

At the same time, you will continue to develop the porter function with respect for what the team already does well. The aim is to maintain the good culture and psychological safety and, together with the employees, find the improvements that provide the most value in everyday life. Data, board meeting discussions and The South Denmark Improvement Model are used as tools in the work.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement between Danish Regions and the relevant professional organization. The position is expected to be placed according to the collective agreement for leading service and care staff, 32.12.1. The final placement will be clarified before publication.
