About the job

Are you structured and detail-oriented, and do you have an eye for quality in geographical data? Then you may be the one we are looking for as a new GIS staff member for the authority team in the Unit for Permit for Road Change.

In the City of Copenhagen, a correct and up-to-date base map is an important prerequisite for the municipality to plan, administer, operate and develop the city’s roads. Therefore we are looking for a GIS staff member who can help ensure that the road alignments in Copenhagen Municipality’s map data are correct and continuously updated.

You will become part of the unit Permit for Road Change, where we work with a wide range of tasks within the road sector. Your main task will be to maintain and quality assure the municipality’s geographical road data so that the map base reflects the actual conditions on the city’s roads.

About the job

As a GIS staff member you will play a central role in the work to ensure the quality of the municipality’s road data. Your main tasks will include

  • maintenance and updating of road alignments in Copenhagen Municipality’s map base
  • updating the road register, which is the structured register of roads and road sections
  • quality assurance of geographic data and identification of errors and deficiencies
  • processing and assessment of information that may affect the geographical delimitation of road features
  • updating GIS data based on changes to public and private shared roads
  • collaboration with colleagues across the municipality to ensure a correct and coherent data foundation
  • contributing to the development and optimization of workflows around maintenance of the municipality’s geodata

There will also be opportunities to participate in other GIS-related tasks within the road sector depending on your competences and the unit’s needs.

About you

We are looking for someone who has a relevant education in GIS, geography, surveying, geodata or a similar field.

It is an advantage if you have experience with GIS and working with geographical data, but most important is that you have a good understanding of geodata and an interest in ensuring high data quality.

We place emphasis on the following in you

  • have experience with GIS and geographical data
  • are thorough and have an eye for detail
  • have a structured approach to tasks and can handle large amounts of data
  • have an eye for data quality and can identify inconsistencies and errors
  • can work independently and take responsibility for your tasks
  • are good at collaborating and communicating with colleagues with different professional backgrounds
  • are keen to understand the relationship between geographical data and the reality they describe

It is not a requirement that you have experience from a municipality. The most important is that you have the GIS professional competencies and the motivation to work with maintenance and quality assurance of road data.

About us

The Unit Permit for Road Change consists of about 20 employees and has as its primary role to process cases in the road legislation area.

We process, among other things, applications for changes to public and private shared roads and handle orders for maintenance and restoration on private shared roads. At the same time, we are responsible for ensuring that the municipality’s map base is correctly updated so that the municipality’s construction and operations units have the best possible basis for performing their tasks.

As a GIS staff member you will therefore play an important role in ensuring that the geographic data the municipality works from is correct, current and usable.

We work closely across disciplines, and you will have a broad contact interface in the organization. You will become part of a team where GIS and geodata support both authority tasks, operation and development of the city.

Employment terms

As an employee of the City of Copenhagen you have working conditions that allow you to balance work life and private life. The workplace is located on Islands Brygge, and remote work is possible. Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement depending on your qualifications and after negotiation with the negotiating organization.

Expected start date is January 1, 2027.
