About the job

At Skolen ved Bülowsvej we established four years ago BÜrummet, which is a community for students with involuntary school absenteeism. Communities are woven together, and absence becomes meaning when we meet in BÜrummet. Here we work purposefully to create new opportunities for students who have had difficulty finding their place in school. Do you want to be one of those who make this difference, then you should be part of BÜrummet.

BÜrummet at Skolen ved Bülowsvej on Frederiksberg brings together students from several of the municipality's schools. BÜrummet is for students in 6th-9th grade, but currently there are students in 8th and 9th. In BÜrummet we work purposefully to improve the students' quality of life by creating a safe and meaningful everyday life, where they have something to get up for, where they feel included and can rediscover the joy of being an active part of a community and a school day.

Through BÜrummet a framework is created that supports the students' well-being, motivation, learning and opportunities to return to school in a smaller environment. There are few adults attached to BÜrummet and there is a clear daily structure. The staff consists of teachers, a pedagogical worker, a psychologist and an UU counselor, each contributing with professional and pedagogical competences to ensure a holistic effort.

In BÜrummet we always start from the individual student’s needs, both with regard to long-term goals and the current daily form. We base on relevant assessments, PPV, diagnoses, Low Arousal principles, recommendations as well as the student’s own experiences, approaches and wishes. We work with achievable goals that strengthen the student’s self-esteem and motivation, while humor and recognizability are included to create safe frames.

If the student is not ready for the community, we ensure that the community comes to the student. We do this through our outreach unit, which collects students in the morning and through ongoing home visits.

We are currently seeking an engaged teacher with competences in Danish who can see themselves in close collaboration with students, parents and colleagues and who wishes to participate in the continued development of BÜrummet. You will become a central part of a very dedicated team and will function as a contact person for selected students with close dialogue to their parents.

The position includes teaching Danish in BÜrummet as well as other relevant elective subjects.

We need you who have special pedagogical competences or perhaps experience as a counselor, but the most important for us is that you are the right person.

You can do some of these things and if you can’t do them all, we can do the rest together

  • You dare to stand on the edge and do what is needed for the students to succeed – even when it is not quite in the script
  • You are fun and positive to be with and can create trust and security in the close relationship with the students, the parents and the colleagues
  • You have an interest in making a difference for children and young people with school absenteeism
  • You have experience with or an interest in special education and the planning of differentiated teaching
  • You can teach Danish and are good at motivating the students – even if they say no thanks
  • You are curious about practice when a day does not go as planned
  • You are independent and can make decisions on your own
  • You contribute positively and appreciatively to the job satisfaction in the team and at the school
  • You want to further develop BÜrummet in collaboration with us

We offer a well-functioning and inclusive school. We ensure this through professional and pedagogical sparring, involvement at all levels, and a shared desire to engage in meaningful communities that every day care for the children’s well-being and learning. The professional collaboration is the cornerstone for our success, and therefore we seek a teacher who will collaborate and contribute to the shared responsibility that all children are in positive development and have the opportunity to participate in communities. With us, no one stands alone, neither children nor adults.

We are development-oriented and have previously been awarded Frederiksberg Municipality’s Innovation Prize for our focus on varied and alternative teaching. We therefore primarily look for staff profiles who want to further develop our exciting school and BÜrummet. So do not hold back if the subject-area combination does not match 100%.

Skolen ved Bülowsvej is centrally located on Frederiksberg and has nearly 1000 pupils from kindergarten to 9th grade. The staff consists of more than 120 employees who have a strong desire and willingness to collaborate and try new approaches. We have an informal atmosphere where dialogue and mutual trust are the foundation of the work. In addition, we have Frederiksberg’s best staff association, a training center for all employees and a snack buffet with a fruit scheme – life never stands still at Skolen ved Bülowsvej. We look forward to hearing from you!

Please contact the principal, Lars Westh, at tel.: 28980591 or the deputy head, Sabine Skafte, at tel: 28980594 to hear more about the position, the school or something else.

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Please note that a children’s background check and a private criminal record check will be obtained upon employment in Frederiksberg Municipality.

The application deadline is Friday, October 23 at 12:00 and employment interviews will be held on Monday, October 26 . We would like to point out that we continuously invite relevant applicants. Applications are submitted via the link.
