About me

My name is Mads , I am 59 years old and sit in an electric wheelchair after an accident with kite flying in 1986. I have reduced function in arms and hands and am paralyzed from the chest down. I am in the process of starting a new company in the drone field. I drive myself, lead an active life, and need an assistant who can match my pace and give a hand (or two), where the body reaches its limits.

What am I looking for?

You are preferably over 180 cm tall (I am 198 cm myself – and that makes things easier), and you may have guts and drive . You are robust – both physically and mentally – and understand being close to another person without becoming part of the family.

About the home

I live with my wife Christine , who is a ceramic visual artist. We have been married for 25 years.

There is an assistant’s room where you can relax, watch TV – and sleep if you wish during the shift.

Working hours and conditions

• Regular weekdays : 16:00 – 10:00 the following day (the shift can be extended as needed)
• Weekend work in rotation
• You join a helper team and can expect about 30 hours/week , including extra shifts due to illness and holidays
• It is expected that you say yes to a reasonable share of extra shifts
• You must be prepared to stay in the position for at least one year

Employment is conducted under the applicable rules of the BPA scheme (you can see more about the rates on the Aarhus Municipality's or CFH's website).

About the job

You help me with what I cannot do physically myself – everything from personal care to practical tasks and companionship. The work is varied , at times demanding, but always meaningful. You gain insight into an active and creative daily life – and become an important piece in keeping things together.

Qualifications

• You have a driver’s license for a standard car
• You are practical, reliable, physically strong and respectful
• You understand that the role of helper is professional and not private
• You can manage a kitchen and know how to clean
• It’s a plus if you have prior experience, for example as a high school student at Egmont Højskolen
