About the job

Would you like a versatile job where you make a concrete difference in another person’s daily life?

I am seeking a disability support assistant for a part-time position with start on 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible.

The position includes 2-3 24-hour shifts over 4 weeks, spread across weekdays and weekends. I plan the shifts in dialogue with you and take your wishes and other activities into account as much as possible. This provides good opportunities to combine the job with, for example, studies, family or leisure activities.

Who am I?

I am 71 years old and a former practicing doctor. Eleven years ago I suffered a serious bicycle accident that caused significant physical injuries. I therefore have reduced strength in both arms and legs and use a wheelchair. That means I need around-the-clock assistance.

Fortunately I did not suffer a head injury, so my mind is intact!

What does the job involve?

I have a well-functioning team of part-time and full-time helpers who together provide the necessary daily support.

I place a high value on staying physically active. Therefore physical training is an important part of the job. The training takes place both at my home and at Vadum Swimming Pool.

Since I do not have any other help in the swimming pool’s changing room, it is necessary that I be accompanied by a male helper. Therefore I am exclusively seeking male helpers.

In addition, you will accompany me at activities outside the home. These may include

  • Examinations and treatments
  • Courses and meetings
  • Visits to family and friends
  • Concerts and other cultural events

The work is thus varied and includes practical tasks, personal assistance, and activities outside the home.

Who am I looking for?

I especially value that you

  • Are outgoing, have a good sense of humor and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves.
  • Ideally have experience with physical training – but it is not a requirement.
  • Respect both your own and others’ boundaries.
  • Can act discreetly and with respect for my privacy.
  • Are loyal and stable and uphold your duty of confidentiality.
  • Are a non-smoker.
  • Are flexible with regard to working hours and are willing to step in during illness and similar situations.
  • Have a Category B driving license and are willing to drive a larger car.

I do not require a specific education, professional background or age. The most important is your personality and your attitude to the job.

You will of course receive the necessary training at the start of employment.

Working hours and practical matters

I live in Vestbjerg with my wife. There are good bus connections to and from Aalborg.

As a helper you will have your own room available during shifts.

The shifts will typically be 22-26 hours, but some shifts may be shorter. You must be prepared for the work to be distributed on all days of the week throughout the year.

I handle the daily management and scheduling of the shifts myself. You will however be formally employed through LOBPA, which has the employer responsibility.

Salary and other terms of employment follow LOBPA’s collective agreement, which you can read here:
