Head of Education at Aarhus Gymnasium, Tilst

AARHUS GYMNASIUM, Tilst is seeking a skilled educational leader who with commitment and initiative will help create a school day where high academic standards and well-being are prioritized for students and staff. The position includes pedagogical, administrative and managerial tasks.

Aarhus Gymnasium, Tilst offers pre-IB, IB, STX, HF and HFI. As educational leader you will have HF as your primary area of responsibility. You will help ensure a well-functioning everyday life for students and employees and help develop a school culture built on collaboration, dialogue, responsibility and trust. You must be able to create coherence between the school's strategic direction and daily decisions and be eager to take on the concrete leadership and operational tasks that keep the school functioning every day.

The school has with the IB program and through its membership of Global High Schools a clear international profile, which we are in the process of developing further. The international environment is strengthened by the fact that the school includes students and staff with many different cultural backgrounds. Strong English skills will therefore be an advantage.

The management team at AARHUS GYMNASIUM, Tilst consists of a principal and three educational leaders, who are close collaborators and sparring partners and handle many leadership tasks jointly. After hiring there will be a dialogue about the division of leadership tasks so that the total resources in the leadership team are used optimally, but among other things examination scheduling will be included in the task portfolio. There will be teaching attached as part of the employment.

• has experience with leadership tasks either from a similar position or from roles with driving development projects and creating support and collaboration among colleagues.
• is willing to engage in pedagogical development with focus on students' learning and well-being.
• is good at building relationships and collaborating both internally and externally.
• has an organizational mindset, is good at executing and finishing tasks.
• is good at involving staff so that decision-making processes are transparent.
• can communicate precisely and appreciatively both in writing and speech, in Danish and English.
• is a solid administrator, fond of many IT systems, has experience with Excel and is motivated by both complex and everyday planning tasks.
• is flexible, has a good sense of humor and thrives in a busy day, which can be unpredictable.
• has or is willing to pursue a master’s degree in leadership.
• has pedagogy in at least two upper secondary subjects and is a skilled teacher.
