About the job

The School for Clinical Assistants and Dental Hygienists (SKT) at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen, is seeking a dynamic and development-oriented person for a position as Education Leader for the Bachelor of Professions in Dental Hygiene program.

We are looking for a person with a health science education at the master's or PhD level.

You must have competencies in health promotion and prevention. If you are a trained dentist or dental hygienist, you must hold Danish authorization and be able to document competencies for work in health promotion. If you have another educational background, you must have experience and competencies in health promotion and prevention. If you have teaching and leadership experience as well as other relevant continuing education, that may be advantageous.

The position is available from 1 January 2027 or by agreement.

About SKT

SKT’s core tasks are to run the education for the Bachelor of Dental Hygiene (dental hygienist), the dental clinic assistant education, and the academy program in odontological practice.

SKT also offers relevant post- and further education and conducts education in Greenland. SKT collaborates with the Odontological Institute (Dental School) and other units at the faculty to carry out the tasks.

The school has 75 staff and more than 400 students.

At SKT we value responsibility, esprit de corps and development. It is part of SKT’s culture to promote respect, trust, empathy and diversity – as well as the emphasis that everyone has the opportunity to speak up and share their views. SKT sets clear demands and expectations for both employees and students, who are expected to contribute to the development of the school and the programs. The daily collaboration is also characterized by responsibility, recognition and humor. We use new technology where it supports and enhances our task performance.

You will become part of SKT’s management team reporting to the school head. You will be responsible for the leadership and development of the dental hygiene education and a group of permanent staff and hourly teachers. The school’s clinics are led by our clinic manager, with whom you will have close collaboration.

Your tasks are primarily carried out in collaboration with the management team and the school head and include, among other things:

  • contribute to the development, implementation and reporting of strategy and action plans for SKT’s education with particular focus on the Bachelor of Dental Hygiene program, so that the education remains current in form and content and develops in balance between society’s, patients’, contractors’ and the students’ expectations and needs
  • contribute to ensuring that the education recruits a sufficient number of qualified students who complete the program within the normative time
  • contribute to ensuring the students a teaching environment and the staff a working environment where they thrive and develop academically and personally to the best possible extent
  • contribute to developing and offering relevant post- and continuing education activities for dental hygienists and the odontological team
  • contribute to creating and maintaining contact with SKT’s significant national and international stakeholders
  • take on personnel leadership and have independent responsibility for your own group of staff
  • prioritize SKT’s resources in order to create the best possible results for the Bachelor of Dental Hygiene education (dental hygienist), SKT’s other educations, as well as for the faculty and the University of Copenhagen.
  • participate in teaching dental hygiene students within one or more of the profession’s core professional areas.

Your qualifications

We place emphasis on your ability to document that you

  • have a relevant education at master's level
  • have competencies in health promotion and prevention and possibly team-based dental care or interdisciplinary work
  • have analytical skills and are development-oriented, and can lead a team to find solutions and achieve results
  • can motivate and delegate as well as collaborate at all levels
  • have experience with knowledge dissemination and ideally extensive knowledge of learning, pedagogy and didactics
  • have conducted or shown interest in research
  • have good English skills

We offer

  • a versatile, challenging job characterized by ongoing development
  • great autonomy in solving tasks – as well as broad contact with internal and external stakeholders
  • a workplace where tasks are solved in a team-based manner with emphasis on diversity and mutual respect for each other’s competencies and viewpoints
  • engaged colleagues who emphasize teamwork and both odontological and pedagogical professionalism in the work, with an informal, open and respectful workplace tone
  • professional and personal development opportunities

There is no research obligation attached to the position, but it will to a limited extent be possible to undertake research and development projects focusing on learning and health pedagogy.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is 37 hours per week and permanent.

We offer employment in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Akademikerne with the possibility of negotiating a qualification allowance, or under the state dentists’ union agreement or another relevant collective agreement.
