Head of Geotechnics

Do you want to help ensure robust railway projects and raise the geotechnical field in a complex and society-critical organization? Then you are the one we are looking for as the new Head of Geotechnics.

As Head of Geotechnics you will have a central professional role where you set the direction for standards, method development and quality across the section's projects and teams. You will help ensure the geotechnical decision basis for the projects' robustness, economy and progress in Banedanmark's work with the future sustainable railway.

You will bring your geotechnical expertise into play in a role with great professional responsibility and many collaboration interfaces. Here you will work with complex geotechnical problems and contribute to ensuring a strong professional basis for decisions in both construction and renewal projects.

About the role

The Head of Geotechnics role reports to the section manager and is a central professional capability with responsibility for lifting and developing the section's geotechnical level. The role combines technical knowledge, professional leadership and strategic development across the section's projects and teams.

You will work closely with the section manager and team leaders to strengthen and maintain the professional level, drive technological development and support Banedanmark's business objectives.

Geotechnics constitutes a decisive basis for decision-making on projects' robustness, economy and progress. Your role is to ensure that this basis is well-documented, consistent and technically solid – and that experiences are translated into improved methods and standards.

As Head of Geotechnics you will, among other things

• further develop the section's professionalism and improve the professional quality
• define the section's technical standards, guidelines and best practices within geotechnics
• ensure quality and sufficiency of geotechnical investigations and investigation programs
• provide professional sparring and guidance to the section manager, team leaders and the rest of the section
• ensure that experiences from projects are translated into learning, method improvements and standard updates
• facilitate knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration by collecting and communicating experiences, solutions and geotechnical recommendations across the section's projects
• support a respectful and inclusive working environment by promoting professional sparring, constructive dialogue and safe exchange of experiences in the section

Professional knowledge

You have a relevant academic education combined with solid experience and in-depth knowledge within geotechnics from complex construction or infrastructure projects. You have experience in analyzing geotechnical data as well as assessing, qualifying and optimizing geotechnical solutions through the project's various phases.

You work confidently in multidisciplinary project environments and have experience with coordination, review and development of technical solutions in collaboration with other disciplines. You are capable of translating professional assessments into robust project decisions and contribute constructively to handling complex technical issues.

You communicate complex geotechnical conditions clearly and structurally to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. At the same time you have experience with professional sparring, mentoring and competence development as well as implementing best practices in the organization.

Salary and terms of employment

You will be appointed as a project designer in the position of head of geotechnics.

You will be employed under the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state.

You will be placed based on academic seniority and experience as a senior advisor or chief advisor in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, which you can find here and the Employee and Competence Agency's salary overview, which you can find here .

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is potential for negotiation of additional allowances. There will be an employer-funded pension scheme of 18.07%.
