Head of Section for the Newly Established SoHO Health Section

About SoHO and the section

The SoHO Health Section is part of the agency's newly established SoHO unit, which consists of two sections: SoHO Health and SoHO Law. The unit currently consists of a total of 10 employees and handles the overall control and quality assurance of blood and tissue centers (including blood banks, semen banks and fertility clinics). We process applications, assess reports of serious adverse reactions and serious incidents and make decisions on sanctions. In addition, we play a central role in implementing the large new EU Regulation for SoHO (Substances of Human Origin) , which comes into force from August 2027.

The SoHO area is strategically highly prioritized in the Danish Health Authority, and the unit will grow significantly as a result of this.

SoHO Health oversees the control of blood and tissue centers, including among others blood banks, semen banks and fertility clinics. The section processes applications for permission for blood and tissue activities, assesses reports of serious adverse reactions and serious undesired events and conducts inspections of blood and tissue centers. The section will in 2027 also contribute to the drafting of a number of regulations and guidelines in the SoHO area.

The section currently consists of 5 employees, but is expected to grow during 2027. As section leader you will therefore have a central role in building and developing the section, including forming the team that will elevate the tasks of the coming years.

Your everyday life with us

You will become part of a unit management team, which – in addition to you – consists of the section head for SoHO Law and the unit head for SoHO. The unit leadership maintains close dialogue with the deputy director of the area.

You will be leading a multidisciplinary team, which currently consists of doctors and biologists. The SoHO area is characterized by extensive regulation and collaboration across disciplines and national borders. Your day-to-day will consist of operational tasks, but as it is a rapidly developing area, you should also contribute to developing workflows and be involved in building the new unit. Your leadership task is to ensure that your employees have the best framework and conditions to solve their tasks and develop themselves while you create a positive working environment.

Your main tasks

• Daily management of the staff in the section, including meetings and 1:1.
• Daily operation and prioritization of the section's tasks.
• Development and preparation of the SoHO regulation.
• Collaboration with other units in the agency and external – within and outside Denmark.

The tasks will change when the SoHO regulation is implemented. In some areas it is a continuation in practice, while for example the task of approving SoHO preparations is new in the agency. You will help create a coordinated adaptation of task planning, recruitment of staff, and implementation of the new workflows.

Your education, experience and personal qualifications

You have a relevant education in life science or a health-related field. This could be as a physician, human biologist, pharmacist or biochemist. You may have experience as a leader in a tissue center, a fertility clinic, a blood center, a laboratory company or another highly regulated company with a strong focus on quality (e.g., GMP environments).

As a leader at the Danish Health Authority you focus on a high level of professionalism, quality in task execution and are responsible for effective and well-coordinated processes and workflows. You have an organizational mindset and help to create cohesion across the organization. You prioritize professional and personal development of your employees and lead by example in a collaborative approach to task completion.

About the appointment

The appointment is essentially full-time (37 hours) and start is desired by 1 March 2027. Possible appointment as chief physician requires full-time.

Depending on your educational background the appointment will be as either chief consultant with personnel management, department physician or chief physician.

Appointment as chief consultant with personnel management occurs under the current applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Employers' Organisation for Academics (AC).

Appointment as department physician occurs under the current applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Young Doctors.

Appointment as chief physician occurs in a position in Group 1 (LR37) under the current applicable framework agreement on contract employment of managers in the state.

Appointment as department physician or chief physician requires specialist recognition.
