About the job

Would you like to help shape the sustainable future of the energy sector in Gentofte Municipality? Now you can apply for a maternity leave position as a heat and energy planner with us.

Background

One of our two heat and energy planners will soon go on maternity leave, and therefore we are announcing a maternity leave position to work on heat planning and revision of the municipality's climate strategy in close collaboration with our other heat and energy planner.

District heating expansion in Gentofte Municipality has been underway for several years, but was halted in June due to lack of heat capacity and economic viability in the expansion. The administration is now investigating new possibilities for future district heating and other shared heating solutions. The result will be a new heat plan that provides an overall picture of how and to what extent more residents can gain access to district heating or other shared heating solutions in the future. The heat plan should also provide input to the ongoing revision of the municipality's climate strategy.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a colleague who is focused on green heat and energy planning and turning ambitions into reality in close collaboration between the municipality, the utility Gentofte Gladsaxe District Heating (GGF), the district heating supplier CTR and Gladsaxe Municipality, which is a co-owner of Gentofte Gladsaxe District Heating.

The responsibilities include, among others, that you in close collaboration with your nearest colleague and colleagues in, among others, Planning and Building as well as Environment and Nature:

  • follow and initiate analyses as part of the development of a new heat plan in close collaboration with GGF and CTR, in which you participate in a working group with them, as well as an external advisor
  • develop new initiatives to promote alternative heating supply solutions in areas where district heating expansion is not possible.
  • develop proposals for new energy targets and energy measures for the new climate strategy
  • answer citizen inquiries and political questions on the district heating area
  • prepare political cases and support municipal politicians in connection with their participation in board meetings at GGF and CTR

Gentofte Municipality aims to be among the leading municipalities in Denmark in using AI ambitiously and responsibly, and you will therefore also come to use AI in your task execution.

You will be organizationally placed in our Climate Unit. The Climate Unit handles the municipality's tasks as heating plan authority, we work with the municipality's climate strategy, climate data and accounting, as well as involving citizens, businesses, associations and the municipality's own organization in the climate efforts.

Profile

We imagine that you

  • have a relevant academic education
  • have basic knowledge of, and are curious about developments in heat planning and the Heat Supply Act, the green transition of the energy system and the energy sector
  • are interested in sustainable urban development including sustainable construction projects and energy savings in homes and how this can be incorporated into future energy systems
  • work independently and detail-oriented and follow up tasks to completion
  • are keen to work with others to find solutions
  • possibly have experience from an agency, a utility, a municipality, or another politically governed organization.

We offer

You will be part of a large social workplace with an informal tone and a suitably fast pace. The Climate Unit is part of the Directorate area Climate, Environment and Technical, and has an office centrally located at Gentofte Town Hall.

We focus on well-being and work environment, good opportunities for professional and personal development, flexibility and remote work. We have a well-visited canteen serving organic and climate-friendly food, a well-functioning art association, yoga and running clubs and affordable holiday homes in Denmark.

The practical

The maternity leave position is intended to be filled from December 1, 2026 and until December 31, 2027. Salary and terms of employment are set in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and after negotiation with the relevant trade organization. The position averages 37 hours per week including a lunch break.

Please submit your application online with relevant attachments no later than October 18, 2026. We expect to conduct interviews on Friday, October 23 and second interviews on Tuesday, October 27.
