Helper sought for a 30-year-old man in Middelfart – about 9 hours per week

Are you interested in making a difference in daily life for a young man with a big heart, lots of personality and many interests? Then perhaps you are the one we’re looking for as a helper for Mathias in Middelfart.

Mathias is 30 years old, wheelchair user and nonverbal. He has epilepsy and uses a diaper. He is a social and determined young man who loves presence, coziness and safe surroundings. He thrives best when things happen at his pace, and when he is with people he knows and feels safe with.

Mathias can, on good days, be smiling, happy and very contact-seeking. On less good days he can become frustrated and express it by shouting. He thus needs a helper who can meet him with calm, patience and understanding.

What will you do together? The position is about 9 hours per week, and your primary focus will be to be with Mathias and give him good experiences in everyday life.

You will among other things have to

• Accompany Mathias to bowling and swimming
• Take him out to eat
• Go on small trips and excursions
• Cozy time and be with him at home
• Participate in activities that Mathias enjoys
• Be part of creating safe and good surroundings around him

Mathias is interested in, among other things

• Trucks, tractors and machines
• Music, including Kim Larsen, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Bamse & Kylling as well as Popsie & Krelle
• Trips and experiences outside the home
• Cozy time and presence
• Getting out into nature when the weather is good

Mathias goes regularly to bowling and swimming, where there are always two helpers with him.

• Have a driver’s license (requirement since Mathias lives in the countryside)
• Like animals, as there are dog, cat and horses around him

Knowledge of epilepsy is an advantage but not a requirement.

It is important to be aware that Mathias is a strong young man who is not always aware of his own strengths. Therefore you must be robust and comfortable with a workday where there can be a few spontaneous and well-meaning pats on the shoulder.

Working hours The position is about 9 hours per week .

The working hours will mainly lie in the afternoons Monday and Friday and some Saturdays . The working hours are planned in collaboration with Mathias and his other helpers.
