About the job
Do you want to help strengthen the Danish defence against hybrid threats from the air and in the maritime domain? The number and complexity of hybrid threats are constantly increasing, so we need more technically strong profiles who can contribute to building the defense against hybrid threats, and the digital transformation that supports the Armed Forces' ability to conduct Multi-Domain Operations.
About us
We are a section in the Business Area Defence Common in the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO). Our work has great significance for the Defence’s units and authorities, and we cooperate closely with both internal and external partners as well as industry.
We are currently seeking several technically and analytically capable profiles for projects and operational tasks related to command, control and data display systems used by both the Air Force and the Navy, and contributing to monitoring of Danish airspace and the maritime domain.
The systems we install and the services we offer are used operationally around the clock in both national and international missions. In addition to delivering to the operational users, we must also ensure that these systems are included in the digital and operational transformation of the Defence and are ready to participate in Multi-Domain Operations.
We are a team of experienced and newly graduated highly engaged engineers and technicians working across disciplines in a varied everyday life. We value an informal tone and professionalism. We prioritise knowledge sharing and high professional standards, and therefore we offer continuing education and competence development. We see ourselves as a team where collaboration and solidarity are key words.
About the position
The position’s tasks assume that you are motivated to work with both day-to-day operational tasks as well as diverse, complex project tasks.
You will come to work as a system owner within the Defence's land-based command and control systems (C2), where we support the Air Force and the Navy. A fundamental understanding of information security and network architecture is a prerequisite for success in the position.
Depending on your profile you may work within the following
- Operations, maintenance and development of C2 systems for the Navy or the Air Force
- Multi-Domain Operations integration of C2 systems across domains
- Network design that binds sensors to decision-makers
- AI and advanced data analysis systems for analysis of raw data
- Data visualization to support decision-makers
Regardless of which areas you work in, you will be involved in technical requirement specification, project planning, execution of procurements and operational tasks in relation to the Air Force's or Navy's land-based surveillance, as well as advising within the capacity center's portfolio. You can thus look forward to a position where you will have broad contact with decision-makers, users, the maintenance organization as well as external suppliers.
We work with cross-organizational projects and implement systems that include a lot of IT across the Defence and in relation to NATO systems and networks. Here we coordinate analyses and dialogue about the operational digital capabilities, including Joint Command and Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance in a Multi-Domain Operations context. Your responsibility will be to connect technical solutions to concrete operational needs and participate in discussions about what the right solution is in relation to the operational users’ needs.
Other tasks you will work with in everyday life include
- Participation in project work during capability development, where you get broad contact with the rest of the Defence
- Carrying out progress reporting and other communication of task solving
- Developing relationships and representing FMI at national and international conferences, meeting forums and symposiums, so you can stay updated and actively contribute to dialogue with authorities, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Preparation of documentation and case processing, including preparation of case submissions and minutes in our filing system.
You should expect travel activities in connection with task solving as well as meetings with our partners domestically and abroad.
About you
As a technical specialist you have a relevant technical education or equivalent experience with: Command and Control systems (C2), radar systems, intelligence systems, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), NATO communications standards and doctrine. We expect you to be able to contribute with new ideas and be solution-oriented regarding the tasks.
We are looking for a colleague who works in a structured manner, is proficient at applying information technology effectively in their task solving. You master both Danish and English at a high technical level, both orally and in writing. Since coordination and advising is a large part of the job, it is important that you are approachable and service-minded and prepared to collaborate across the organization.
To be able to join the team you must be able to work in groups and independently. With us, daily work can change quickly, so you must be comfortable with shifting tasks and priorities.
It is important that you are prepared to acquire new knowledge and communicate it effectively in the role as system owner, advisor and coordinator. Prior experience from the Defence will be an advantage, but not a requirement. We expect that you have at least a B driving licence.
Employment terms
Employment and pay are in accordance with the applicable agreement at any given time.

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is the possibility of negotiating supplements. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.
The workplace is in Ballerup or Karup.
As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to some special terms. You must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance throughout the employment period.
As an employee you have a duty to provide service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.
