About the job

Would you like an introductory position that really moves your professional development forward – and at the same time gives you a strong collegial community where you never face the difficult patient alone? And are you ready to be at the heart of the acute flow, where internal medicine, surgical and psychiatric issues meet? Then the introductory position in Emergency Medicine at Regional Hospital in Hjørring is a very good step for your next move.

We offer an acute environment where patients and citizens should experience being in safe, competent hands – whether they present with somatic symptoms, mental disorders, substance abuse or something else entirely. You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced specialists, dedicated nurses and other professional groups, and you will be part of a team that is proud of their professionalism and even stronger when they solve tasks together.

The Job As an intern doctor in Emergency Medicine you will be a key player in the assessment and treatment of acute patients, where the unclear and complex often dominates. You will work in a hospital environment with a focus on patient safety, quality and multidisciplinary collaboration and will help ensure that patients receive a coherent and well-planned course. The daily routine typically begins with morning teaching and reassessment of admitted patients, and from there the work in the emergency department begins in earnest.

  • You participate in reception, assessment and initial treatment of acute patients in close cooperation with specialists
  • You gain experience with patients with diseases from almost all organ systems, and encounter both medical, surgical and psychiatric issues
  • You participate in multidisciplinary conferences and collaborate with nurses, therapists and other professional staff to ensure good patient pathways
  • You document and communicate clearly in journals and to collaborators, so that patients experience continuity and quality
  • You contribute to quality work, patient safety and the development of local clinical guidelines
  • You participate in on-call work according to the agreed on-call schedule and will gradually be introduced to supervisory functions in the emergency department

Your Role and Development You can expect a daily life where learning, supervision and professional sparring are natural parts of the job. You start as a “forvagt plus”, and gradually become introduced to tasks such as supervising younger colleagues, managing patient flow and treating the most ill patients. The goal is for you to gain the confidence to meet both “red” and “orange” patients – while also becoming comfortable in the role of the person who supports others.

  • You participate in daily morning teaching every weekday with a focus on acute problems and clinical cases
  • You work side by side with specialists who are present in the department and who are used to teaching and supervising
  • You gain experience in prioritizing, consulting and referring patients to the most appropriate pathway, admission or outpatient treatment
  • You develop competencies to be a supervisor in the emergency department and coordinate collaboration with other departments
  • You gain professional ballast to make a qualified choice of specialty and a strong platform for future specialty-specific positions
  • You help distribute tasks according to competencies and learning goals, so that both you and your colleagues develop professionally

Your Profile We are looking for a doctor who wants to learn emergency medicine in depth and to be part of a work community where professionalism, integrity and good collegiality are central. You thrive at a certain pace, but do not compromise on quality, and you see multidisciplinary collaboration as the key to good patient pathways. The ITOP values influence, trust, integrity and professionalism matter to you in how you work.

  • You have a medical education with the right to autonomous practice
  • You have an interest in emergency medicine and a desire to work broadly with acute, undifferentiated patients
  • You work in a structured way, are responsible and can maintain calm and an overview, even when there are many balls in the air
  • You are curious and learning-oriented and actively use supervision, teaching and sparring in your development
  • You communicate respectfully and clearly and are aware that both patients, relatives and colleagues must experience being met properly
  • You are a collaborative colleague who contributes positively to the community – even when it is busy and things are complex
