IT Security Advisor for the Cyber Division in Hvidovre

About us

The Cyber Division is part of the Defence Agency for Materiel and Procurement and one of the country’s largest IT organizations. We solve security, operations and development tasks that ensure communication and IT for the Defence's employees – whether they are aboard ships in the North Atlantic, on missions in the desert or working on barracks and offices somewhere in the realm. The Cyber Division is responsible for procuring, developing and operating a large portfolio of the Defence’s IT systems.

The position as IT Security Advisor is placed in the Cyber Security Division within the Cyber Division, which is a staff function that provides advice across the Cyber Division and reports directly to management. The department consists of three sections, which handle a wide range of tasks within cyber and information security, including advisory, compliance, incident handling, security monitoring and GDPR.

The title IT Security Advisor can vary, which is why it is also called Systems Security Officer. It is a synonym and both titles describe the same job.

In the Cyber Security Department we are a mix of civilian and military employees with diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise. The position

As an IT Security Advisor, your primary task is to support the organization with advice on security so that the systems comply with national and international security requirements.

You will be attached to a number of IT systems, including mission-critical systems for the Defence and society-critical systems for Denmark.

As part of digital development projects, you will advise on security-related questions in operations and will be involved in the entire system lifecycle from procurement and operation to decommissioning. It is expected that you have experience with IT infrastructure, as this will also be part of your daily work.

As an IT Security Advisor you will consult and assist in collaboration with colleagues across disciplines and areas of responsibility, including technicians, managers, project leaders and external partners, such as the Defence Intelligence Service.

You will continuously acquire knowledge about security requirements and technical context. In your advisory role you will translate your knowledge into actionable recommendations, which you must communicate at eye level to relevant recipients. You will collaborate with other IT Security Advisors/System Security Officers, with whom you can exchange ideas and experiences.

You shall, among other things

• Advise on IT security, including national and international requirements across the system lifecycle.
• Guide the business side and suppliers regarding the IT security of systems.
• Identify security challenges and opportunities for improvement.
• Advise colleagues on security aspects of installations, accreditations and connections.
• Provide guidance in handling IT security incidents.
• Prepare and assist with vulnerability assessments.
• Prepare technical documentation in relation to the system portfolio.
• Provide input to, and possibly prepare, security products and –policies.

About you

It would be desirable if you have experience with IT security, including ISO 27001 and/or FKOBST 358-1, but it is not a requirement. The most important is that you are motivated to contribute to improvements in IT security and are interested in the area.

As a Systems Security Officer you will take on an outward-facing role in a large organization. It would be beneficial if you have experience from a public administration or another larger organization that is highly regulated, but this is not a requirement. The most important is that you are willing to familiarize yourself with a number of documents, including provisions, policies, guidelines and other directives that will form the basis for your advisory work.

In addition you should be curious about understanding a number of technical areas that will constitute the context for your work. It would therefore be useful if you have technical knowledge and basic insight into system and network architecture.

You work responsibly and ensure that you complete your tasks, while thriving in a diverse everyday life where urgent tasks can arise. You are proactive in offering your support and guidance, and good at coordinating tasks with partners in a large organization. Furthermore, you value developing yourself together with others and understand that the best solutions are achieved through cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Employment terms

If you are an academic, you are hired under the applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

If you have an IT vocational education or another relevant education, you are hired under the applicable Unified Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The Public Sector (OAO-S unified agreement) and the organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT staff.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility for negotiating allowances. The position is linked to an employer-financed pension scheme.

The workplace is in Hvidovre.

As an employee under the Defence Ministry’s area you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance throughout the employment relationship.

You have, as an employee, the duty to perform service outside the country, including at units in international operations aimed at participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.

About the Danish Defence Procurement and Materiel Agency

The Danish Defence Acquisition and Materiel Agency (FMI) is an agency under the Ministry of Defence.

FMI is responsible for the overall defense and emergency materiel, IT and cyber security. It is us who procure, operate and dispose of materiel and IT for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Arctic Command, Special Operations Command, the Home Guard, the Danish Emergency Management Agency and the rest of the Ministry of Defence group. In addition, our IT staff assist daily in resisting the cyber attacks to which the Ministry of Defence group is exposed.
