About the job

Event-based temporary position as an out-of-house IT and low-vision consultant for children and adults with visual impairment.

Do you want to use your IT expertise to make digital technology accessible for people with reduced vision? In the Vision Advisory Service at KRS we advise citizens, relatives and professionals in the Funen municipalities and Kolding Municipality about digital visual aids.

Your tasks

As an IT consultant you work hands-on with technology that compensates for reduced vision

  • Testing and configuring vision-compensating aids (hardware, software, apps, AI solutions etc.)
  • Mapping citizens' digital skills and needs for assistive devices
  • Teaching how to use assistive devices, IT, layout and lighting – typically at home, at educational institutions and workplaces
  • Support, guidance and training of relatives and professionals
  • Documentation, report writing and applications to municipalities
  • Ongoing testing of new solutions, software updates and dialogue with suppliers
  • Participation in professional networks, both in person and virtually

All solutions are tailored individually and can be done in collaboration with a low-vision optometrist. Relatives and support persons are included in the advisory service to achieve the best possible result. The goal is that the citizen can use digital technology independently – also in case of serious eye disease.

About you

You have an IT professional education or another relevant bachelor's degree (e.g., occupational/physiotherapist, teacher, pedagogue) combined with solid IT experience. We place emphasis on, that you:

  • Have experience with user training, IT support and setup of programs and equipment
  • Work systematically and evidence-based and can maintain an overview in complex IT solutions
  • Are curious about new technology, software and gadgets – and can translate it into practical use for children and adults with reduced vision
  • Thrive with independent work, but seek sparring when necessary
  • Are linguistically strong in Danish, both written and spoken, and can communicate IT in an understandable way
  • Have a desire for professional contact with people in very different life situations
  • Are service-oriented and motivated to make a concrete difference with your IT expertise

Visual science knowledge and experience with neurological injuries and rehabilitation is an advantage but not a requirement.

The Vision Advisory Service and KRS

You will become part of a multidisciplinary team with low-vision opticians, occupational therapists, teachers, special educators and specialists in screen-reading technology, low-vision equipment and software for school, work, home, telephony and AI. You will receive on-the-job training and continuing education as needed.

We work self-managed, with high professional standards and the citizen in focus. Tasks are shared across, so no task lies with only one person – this requires flexibility, collaboration and a desire for professional sparring.

KRS is a national VISO supplier and works according to the Social Services Act and the legislation on special education for children and adults.

Employment terms

The position is a fixed-term vacancy of 30 hours per week and located in Odense at Heden 11.

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and local agreements with a negotiating organization in the field.
