About the job

Are you passionate about making a difference for young people aged 16–25, and would you like to work with both social and employment-oriented initiatives?

Then you may be our new colleague in Team Authority in Vejen Municipality's Youth Area.

We are seeking an engaged social worker for a permanent position, where you will have the opportunity to work holistically with young people aged 16–25 across the Child Welfare Act (Barnets Lov) and the Act on an Active Employment Initiative (LAB).

You will have a mixed caseload with authority tasks within both legal areas. We also strive to, as far as possible, follow the same young person across the two sets of legislation when the youth needs interventions under both areas.

Our ambition is to create coherent pathways where the young person experiences continuity and, as far as possible, has one ongoing advisor to relate to when interventions are needed under both law areas.

We do not expect you to have experience with both law areas from the start. The most important is that you have a strong social-work understanding, a desire to develop your professional skills, and the courage to help develop our authority practice.

About us

The Youth Area is part of Youth & Family in Vejen Municipality. We are a developing area where authority tasks under the Child Welfare Act and the employment legislation are gathered in Team Authority.

Our ambition is to create cohesive interventions for young people, where we take into account the young person’s overall life situation, resources and opportunities.

By bringing authority tasks under the Child Welfare Act and the employment legislation together in Team Authority, we have created a solid starting point to strengthen cross-sector collaboration.

We are curious about how we can develop our practice so that the different interventions and plans more strongly support each other and create a common direction for the young person.

We work from a shared youth perspective, where the young person is an actor in their own life. We meet young people with positive expectations, dignity and respect and believe that the best solutions are created in collaboration with the young person, the family, the network and relevant partners.

You will become part of a team with dedicated and professionally competent colleagues, who bring different experiences and skills from both the social-work and employment-law areas.

We conduct our daily activities at Basen – Vejen Youth Center, where we are gathered with among others education counselors, youth counselors, SSP and the Youth School. This provides good opportunities for close collaboration, professional sparring and joint solutions.

Your role and your tasks

As a job and youth advisor you will have a mixed caseload with authority tasks under both the Child Welfare Act and the Act on an Active Employment Initiative (LAB).

We strive that you, as far as possible, take responsibility for the same young person across the two areas when the youth needs interventions under both legislations. You will also have cases where the intervention relates to only one of the two law areas.

It requires that you can work independently with the authority tasks within each legislation while maintaining a holistic view of the young person’s situation, resources and opportunities.

Your tasks will include, among other things

  • Authority work under the Child Welfare Act, including screening, assessment, child welfare investigations, initiation of interventions and follow-up.
  • Authority work under the employment legislation, including conversations, assessments, planning and follow-up on employment-oriented interventions.
  • Preparing and following up on plans and goals in close cooperation with the young person.
  • Ensuring the involvement of the young person and their family and network where relevant.
  • Coordinating interventions across law areas and partners so the young person experiences coherence and continuity.
  • Supporting good transitions to adulthood, education and employment.
  • Contributing to the development of our shared authority practice and the holistic youth effort.

You will have the opportunity to bring your existing professional skills into play and simultaneously develop new competencies in close collaboration with colleagues, professional coordinators and management.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker and have an interest in authority work with young people aged 16–25.

You may have experience with the Child Welfare Act and are curious about the Employment area. Or perhaps you come from the Employment area and would like to work more socially with youths and their families.

Both can be a good starting point for us.

We emphasize that you

  • Are a trained social worker.
  • Have a solid social-work understanding and preferably experience with authority work.
  • Have knowledge of the Child Welfare Act and/or the Act on an Active Employment Initiative (LAB).
  • Have the desire and motivation to develop your competencies within both law areas.
  • Can work systematically and structurally with legislation, documentation and professional assessments.
  • Are good at creating relationships and involving young people in decisions that affect their lives.
  • Can maintain an overview and make professionally grounded decisions, even when cases are complex.
  • Are curious, reflective and dare to challenge habitual working methods.
  • Thrive with cross-disciplinary collaboration and see opportunities in different professional perspectives.
  • Want to contribute to a strong work community where we help each other and take shared responsibility for the core task.

It is an advantage if you have experience with ICS, DUBU or Momentum, but not a prerequisite.

We do not expect you to have equal experience with both law areas from the outset. On the other hand, we expect that you want to develop your professional skills and eventually be able to undertake authority tasks within both areas.

What can we offer?

We are a dedicated team of authority advisors, mentors, talent developers and a personal job mediator. We value both professionalism and a sense of community. Our daily life has an informal work environment where there is room for smiles, laughter and a fondness for sweet treats with coffee. We believe that job satisfaction and good relationships create the best conditions for strong collaboration. We actively work with feedback and recognition across the youth area.

At the same time, we are ambitious for professional excellence. We work systematically, properly and with great responsibility in our task solutions. We help each other, share knowledge and are genuinely curious about our colleagues’ perspectives, because we know that the best solutions often arise in collaboration.

With us there is room to grow. We support each other to achieve together and meet both youths and colleagues with integrity, respect, engagement and an open mind. It is precisely the combination of professional quality, humor and care for one another that makes our team something special.

We know that developing a new cross-law practice takes time, sparring and joint reflection. Therefore, we do not expect you to know it all from the start.

We offer among other things

  • A value-based workplace that emphasizes professional and personal development, which you can read about here Vision, Mission and Values - Vejen Municipality
  • An exciting and diverse position where you get the opportunity to work with the whole youth’s situation.
  • A professionally strong team with colleagues who have different experiences and competencies.
  • Opportunity to develop your professional skills within both the Child Welfare Act and the Act on an Active Employment Initiative (LAB).
  • Close professional sparring, supervision and support from professional coordinators and management.
  • A workplace where there is room for professional reflection, different perspectives and new ideas.
  • Opportunity to influence the development of our common working methods and authority practice.
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility of home office by agreement.
  • A meaningful job where you, together with your colleagues, can make a concrete difference for young people in Vejen Municipality.

We are still developing our common practice, and you will therefore have the opportunity to contribute with your perspectives and experiences on how we can strengthen the coherence of authority work across areas in a unified youth area.
