About the job

We are seeking a Social and Health Assistant who would like to develop expertise in nursing for neurological patients and in the department's patient pathways and subspecialties.

You will become part of a daily routine where we work closely together interdisciplinarily and where we are focused on developing nursing care for our patients and there are good career opportunities.

In Neurology we are focused on ensuring that care has its place in daily life. Care is part of the way we plan both nursing and treatment, and it is valued as part of the core mission. We are focused on developing the nursing care for our patients, and we work based on the “Fundamentals of Care” and according to the hospital's values Care & Compassion.

We are also super proud of the feedback we receive from our patients, and the department has high patient satisfaction, with 9 out of 10 of our patients being satisfied with their course to either a very high degree or to a high degree.

With us you will have the opportunity for a targeted competence development program, where during the first 11 months you will rotate through the entire neurology department and be well prepared and gain a solid nursing foundation in our acute Stroke Ward (Apoplexy) and our General Neurology ward. You will also gain insight into our advanced beds in FAM (Fælles akutmodtagelse) and our outpatient functions including day care and outpatient clinics.

Your competence development program will look as follows, and you will be supported with a good introduction and ongoing conversations, where we focus on you, the professional aspects, and settling well into the collegial community in the department:

  • 5 months with a focus on Stroke
  • 5 months with a focus on General Neurology
  • 1 week in FAM with focus on acute neurological conditions
  • 1 week in our outpatient functions and clinics

In the first 2-4 weeks in the different areas of the department, you will receive a structured and individually tailored introduction program, where you will accompany a daily supervisor. You will have both a daily supervisor who follows you through the program and a clinical nursing specialist where you are in the department, who takes care of and follows you through your introduction program.

During your progression, each time you change area you will have a targeted competence development and transition conversation, and you will continuously have the opportunity to participate in appropriate qualifying educational offerings. If you are a newly graduated Social and Health Assistant after about two years, you will be offered to participate in Neurology courses.

Who are we

Neurology Department has 33 beds distributed in 3 Teams with the subspecialties Acute Stroke and General Neurology, as well as 5 beds in FAM. The department has several outpatient clinics, where there may eventually be opportunities to take on some of the tasks.

We offer patients a coherent patient pathway, from the acute life-saving hospitalization to the longer rehabilitation, where we work interdisciplinary to help patients regain lost functions and retain as much independence as possible.

We are a broad multidisciplinary staff group. There is good humor, room to think, and we support each other in the tasks. We believe this provides the best conditions to deliver qualified and nuanced nursing. Our working time planning is handled by our schedule planner, who works to ensure that we all experience a good balance between work life and private life.

In late 2027 we expect to open the doors to the New North Zealand Hospital. The new hospital is designed for a future with endless technological possibilities and for patients with radically different expectations of the health care system. The future calls for rethinking, and we are already preparing for this by adapting organization and workflows to the health system of the future.
