Cemetery gardener – maintain and develop the cemeteries

Varde Cemeteries are seeking a cemetery gardener for the 2027 season and beyond

A position as a cemetery gardener is available at Varde Cemeteries with start no later than February 8, 2027. The position is 37 hours per week.

Varde Cemeteries comprises three cemeteries: Arnbjerg Cemetery, Østerlund Cemetery, and the Old Cemetery. Here you will have the opportunity to work close to nature and help create and maintain beautiful and well-kept cemeteries, which are an important part of the local community.

We are looking for an independent and service-minded employee who also wants to be part of a good team at the cemeteries. You must be able to collaborate well with the church's other staff and the parish council, and it is important that you meet visitors in the church and at the cemeteries in a friendly and welcoming manner.

Working hours and salary

The working hours are Monday–Thursday 7:00–15:00 and Friday 7:00–12:00. Weekend duty (Friday afternoon and Saturday) is included in a fixed rotation, where you have a duty about every 7–8 weeks.

Employment and remuneration are governed by the Agreement for gardeners and cemetery workers, concluded between the Ministry of Church Affairs and the National Collective Agreement (3F). The agreement can be viewed at www.folkekirkenspersonale.dk . The starting salary is 29,000 DKK per month including allowances plus pension.
