Bell consultant sought - East

The position as bell consultant in the Dioceses of Copenhagen, Helsingør, Roskilde and Lolland-Falster is hereby advertised with a start date of 1 January 2027. The position is a fixed-term contract for 4 years and expires on 31 December 2030.

The position is a secondary occupation.

Profile

The bell consultant must have passed a church music diploma from a Danish music conservatory as well as the diploma-organist training or equivalent internationally recognized examinations. The person employed in a bell consultant position must not have a financial interest in companies that manufacture, trade in, or repair bells or bell accessories.

Tasks

The bell consultant's area of expertise concerns matters relating to church bells, including bells in churchyards and carillons for churches.

The bell consultant provides, upon request, statements in matters relating to the consultant's field. In addition, the bell consultant provides advice and guidance to parish councils and provost committees that request it.

The bell consultant also participates as needed in the diocese's consultant rounds, where we, among other things, visit churches in the diocese where a parish council has wishes or plans for a project.

During the consultant rounds, the project is discussed with the parish council, and where the bell consultant applies their expertise together with the diocese's other consultants. Approximately 4 consultant rounds are held per year in each diocese.

The practical

As a bell consultant you will act as advisor to the ecclesiastical authorities in accordance with the rules in:

It is important to note that as a bell consultant you may not undertake design tasks for parish councils within the diocese you are employed in, unless the diocese exceptionally approves it.

Please note that the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs expects to issue revised administrative regulations for consultation for comment during September 2026. There is a proposed change in the consultants' fields of expertise, and the changes will thus be relevant for upcoming hires. The ministry expects to adopt the administrative regulations in October–November 2026.

Remuneration

The remuneration as of 1 January 2026

• Consultation matters under § 8 of Circular No. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the Joint Instructions for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,236 DKK per hour.
• Declarations matters under § 7, paragraph 1, in Circular No. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the Joint Instructions for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,854 kr.pr . per declaration.

The remuneration is supplemented by vacation pay of 12.5%, while no VAT is to be added.

The rates are adjusted annually on 1 January.
