Nutrition Specialist in sole charge sought for Hvinningdal Børnehus

In Hvinningdal Børnehus we are looking for an engaged and professionally strong nutrition-focused sole-responsible for our kitchen for 32 hours per week with employment January 1, 2027 or preferably earlier .

Who are we?

Hvinningdal Børnehus is an integrated day care, located in Silkeborg Municipality. We are part of Daginstitutionen På Toppen in Hvinningdal. På Toppen consists of 4 day care houses in total, each with a nutrition professional. Therefore you will become part of a shared network. We are a large, lively children’s house with a strong community, engaged staff and a daily life filled with play, learning and presence. We serve about 65 kindergartners, 28 daycare children and 20 adults daily with an educational meal.

We see the meal as much more than a meal. The meal is an important part of the children’s everyday life, where community, self-reliance, curiosity and food courage develop together with good eating habits.

We emphasize that the house smells of food, that the children become curious about new taste experiences, and that the day’s meals contribute to both well-being and learning.

Your role

As the nutrition-focused sole-responsible, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the kitchen and become an important part of the house’s overall professional profile.

Your tasks will include

• Planning varied, nutritionally correct and appealing meals
• Preparation of mid-morning snacks, lunch and afternoon snacks
• Purchasing and ordering of ingredients with regard to the current kitchen budget
• Self-check, hygiene and food safety
• Minimizing food waste through creative use of ingredients and leftovers
• Contributing with nutrition-related sparring to staff and management
• Collaboration with the pedagogical staff on the meal’s importance in the children’s daily life

We imagine you

• Are educated as a nutritional assistant, kitchen manager, cook or have another relevant nutrition-related education
• Are passionate about cooking from scratch and value good taste, quality and nutrition
• Have interest in Danish ingredients, seasonal possibilities and preferably organic
• Have knowledge of the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration’s recommendations and requirements in the field
• Can work independently and take responsibility for both operation, planning and economy
• Find it inspiring to work in an open environment with curious children around you
• Are flexible, proactive and can maintain an overview in a busy day
• Contribute positively to collaboration with colleagues and see the value in cross-disciplinary teamwork

Practical information

The position is for 32 hours per week , distributed over the five weekdays within the nursery’s opening hours.

Employment: January 1, 2027 or preferably earlier.
