About the job

Teacher at Hamarhus School

Are you a teacher with a passion for special education? Do you want to make a difference for children and young people with special needs? Then you may be our new colleague!

About us

Hamarhus School is an internal school for placed children and young people from Hald Ege and Hamarhus children and youth homes. We are part of Special Area for Children and Young People ( SBU ) under Region Midtjylland and are normed to 13 pupils. The school is run by a dedicated staff of 10 employees, as well as a service manager.

Our target group is typically developing children and young people aged 7-16 years who have psychological and behavioral challenges and/or autism spectrum disorders. The teaching is differentiated and planned according to each pupil's needs and resources. We work with small groups and close pupil contact to create a safe and structured everyday life.

We use pedagogical methods such as NAU, low arousal and autism education, and prioritize close collaboration with the residential units to ensure a holistic approach.

About Special Area for Children and Young People

Special Area for Children and Young People is one of the eight special areas within Region Midtjylland's specialized social area. SBU's target group is characterized by both normally gifted and not normally gifted children and young people with complex issues such as pervasive developmental disorders, attachment disorders, behavioral disorders, attention disorders, specific learning difficulties, compulsive behavior and/or brain injury.

Your tasks

  • To create and maintain good relations with the students, the parents and the residential facilities.

We offer

  • A daily life with a high degree of independence and responsibility.
  • A strong work community with engaged and competent colleagues.
  • A thorough introduction with onboarding and joint supervision.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the development of a unique school offering.

We expect that you

  • Are trained as a teacher with experience in special education.
  • Have Danish, German and physics/chemistry as lines of study and be able to lead to exams in the subjects.
  • Have knowledge of the target group and an appreciative approach to the students.
  • Are systematic, robust and calm – and always with a smile on your face.
  • Have a driving license.
  • Have well-developed communicative competencies, which contribute to psychological safety at the workplace.
  • Have insight into yourself and your patterns in collaboration with others.

Personal qualities

We are looking for a colleague who is open, approachable and has a good mood and a good amount of patience. You should be curious, listening, and have an eye for each child's potential and be able to see the joy in small progress. At the same time you should be team-oriented and ready to engage in close collaboration with colleagues and partners.
