About the job

Frederiksgård Skole seeks engaged and academically strong teachers for primary, middle, and upper secondary

Do you want to use your professionalism in a place where relationships, special education, and community are a central part of everyday life? Are you motivated by finding the paths into learning that make sense for the individual child/young person? Then Frederiksgård Skole may be for you.

Frederiksgård Skole and KKFO is a special school in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, with students from kindergarten class to 10th grade. We offer special education to children and young people with general learning difficulties and to children and young people with developmental disorders, including ADHD and autism.

We work from a resource-oriented view of childhood, where we base ourselves on the students' strengths, opportunities, and perspectives. Hospitality (værtskab) is an important part of our pedagogical approach. We see it as the adults' responsibility to be good hosts, who welcome children and young people, actively invite them into the community, and create frame- work where everyone experiences belonging. We are focused on creating safe learning environments where the children/young people have the opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and personally.

As a teacher at Frederiksgård Skole you will become part of a fixed class team around one class. The team typically consists of four to five colleagues, both teachers and pedagogues, who work closely together on teaching and the students' development. We prioritize time for collaboration with a fixed weekly team meeting and two hours of joint preparation for teachers each week. It provides space for joint planning, professional sparring, and reflection on pedagogical practice.

We are seeking teachers with competencies in mathematics, physics/chemistry, music, German, and preferably several subjects. The most important is that you want to bring your professionalism into play in a special education context.

We imagine that you

  • are a qualified teacher and have ambitions on behalf of the students
  • work from a resource-oriented view of childhood and are good at creating safe relationships
  • take on the hosting role and see it as your responsibility to invite all students into both academic and social communities
  • can create structure, predictability, and clear frames for teaching
  • work consciously with classroom management, learning objectives, and differentiation of instruction
  • thrive in close and committed team collaboration
  • are curious about your own practice and want professional development

Experience from the field of special education and familiarity with TEACCH-inspired pedagogy is an advantage, but not a requirement. We also place value on your desire to learn and develop together with your colleagues.

With us you become part of an engaged staff group where we lift the task together. We offer strong cross-disciplinary collaboration, fixed frameworks for joint preparation and team meetings, as well as opportunities for professional sparring and development. We know that special education work can be complex, and therefore we believe that the best solutions are found together.
