Head of Study and Reading Guidance

Do you want to lead the important work of ensuring good and qualified study and reading guidance at a higher education institution? The Study and Reading Guidance team in Studieservice is seeking an engaged and strategically strong leader who can develop, drive and anchor initiatives that make a difference for the students.

You will lead an important task!

As the team leader you will have daily personnel responsibility for a team of study advisors and reading guidance advisors as well as administrative staff, all working on developing and offering strong study guidance to UC SYD's students and delivering and developing reading guidance services to students at higher education institutions in the entire Region of Southern Denmark.

You will be responsible for implementing the board's recent decision to create a common, central study guidance at UC SYD, where good guidance and a common professional direction are keywords for both the new shared study guidance and the existing reading guidance. You will facilitate professional sparring, ensure cross-department coordination and support the engagement and professionalism of the staff.

You will need to create structure, evaluate initiated initiatives and continuously adjust in close dialogue with students, staff and management.

You must lead and qualify the work with reading guidance

In the area of reading guidance you, as the leader, will need to ensure a coherent strategy for this area. This includes, among other things, personnel management of the reading guidance team, further development of offerings and methods, and supporting and following up on that the reading guidance services reach the students with quality and relevance to ensure them a good study progression.

An important task will be to ensure fulfillment of current contractual obligations in relation to the SPS-scheme won tender as the main supplier of reading guidance services in the Region of Southern Denmark, as well as to lead UC SYD's application process in the upcoming tender process. You will also be a guarantor of a good and rewarding collaboration with the Agency for Education and Quality as well as other educational institutions and their students to whom UC SYD provides reading guidance services.

This requires that you can think strategically, act operationally and be a visible and trust-building representative for UC SYD in cross-institution collaboration.

Your profile and background

We do not require a specific education, but knowledge of the education sector as well as guidance and SPS can be an advantage.

We expect that you are able to communicate and collaborate effortlessly at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.

We also expect that you practice an open, listening and trustful leadership style that allows room for employees' self-management and creates space for them to utilize their competencies in the best possible way.

You have experience with leadership, including both personnel and project leadership, and a relevant leadership education will be a plus.

As a person you are empathetic, ambitious, goal-oriented and clear. Since the team's main task in the coming years will be to implement a new unified study guidance, where many new initiatives will be tested and continuously evaluated, and since reading guidance is tied to contractual arrangements, it is important that you have a broad overview and a systematic and analytical approach to the work, while you are good at assessing and finding the right balance between initiating and completing projects and tasks.

About the department

You will become part of the Studieservice department. The overall department consists of approximately 75 employees distributed across campuses in Aabenraa, Haderslev, Kolding and Esbjerg.

A permanent full-time position with the place of employment at Campus Esbjerg and with a starting date on December 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Employment and compensation will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
