Looking for 1-2 new permanent helpers for my helper team

There are 7 fixed shifts per month, each 24 hours, distributed over weekdays and weekends. We run a fixed rotation, so you always know when you have a shift.

And you... DREAM JOB - well, why not - you get paid to relax for most of the shift, and for the rest of the time you have to be on... If you are up for a lousy salary, unreasonable working hours (24 hours at a time - 10 to 10) and a body that can barely handle it, then head to work a bit north of Copenhagen where there is light, air and birdsong. Travel time about forty-five minutes from Copenhagen City Centre - just a few minutes walk to public transport. The salary level is about 150,- + allowances.

The work mainly involves doing - or helping with - the physical and practical tasks I cannot manage myself. The tasks include personal care and practical assistance, general household chores, and acting as a driver. If you’re up for a fantastic job, here is your opportunity... You are not a smoker, have a driving license, know about an Astral respirator and suction, and have proof of it. Proof from RCØ can also be obtained before start with me. Furthermore, you can work independently without help from a guide dog.

In addition to the fixed shifts, there will also be opportunities to swap shifts with your colleagues and cover shifts due to illness and holidays. It is great if you are flexible and can step in from time to time. If this suits you, please email me.

About me

Hi... I am 68 years old, a lively guy, always in a good mood, an excellent listener, a friendly chatty person with a zest for life and who loves to travel and generally enjoys being with people for sociable company. I have a cat, so if you have allergies this may not be for you. I received respiratory support on 5 July 2005 but I can still move around while I get dressed.

Drag racing is one of my passions; I have been to races in Sweden, Norway and Central Jutland (Vandel).

My taste in music is not only hard rock but quite diverse. I listen to everything from Def Leppard to Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. I have attended concerts at the usual venues such as Trommen, Tivoli, Pumpehuset and Portalen. Of course there are also festivals, Grøn koncert, Femøren, etc.

One of my other great passions is tinkering with computers, my computer which is specially designed for me, so I can control it from my wheelchair. This gives me the ability to do a number of programming tasks (webpages and other goodies), both for games, accounting and Internet surfing. For the Internet I use 300/300 Mbps fiber. As a radio amateur (OZ1CJA) I am on the 2 meter band (144 - 146 MHz). (Unfortunately not active anymore)

My great desire to travel has taken me to Hawaii, Bulgaria, the Netherlands (a canal boat trip on the Dutch canals), southern France, Italy 13 times and many other exciting places.

Many people unfortunately have a wrong impression of disabled people. They think we are a people who just sit around feeling sorry for ourselves. This is certainly not the case for me. I was born with muscular dystrophy (SMA type 2) and therefore very clear about my disability. I take things as they come :-)

All of this would not be possible without my loyal helper team, which consists of 3 girls and 2 guys (though only one at a time S ). Most days they are just my arms and legs and do the practical things that my disability prevents me from doing. I am a terrible sociable person, so there are several cups of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and not least Lumumba (my favourite drink) being served. :-)

One of the reasons my life is so wonderful is that I have a perfectly adapted home and, not least, a super car that loves to zip around with me here and there.

So write to me... No topic is taboos in my life and I am known for my great human understanding. I am also a happy giver. I prefer giving to taking, though I never say no to a hug. And please ask if you want to know more, it’s hard to fit everything in here.
