Maternity leave substitute at Virklund School as of December 1

We are seeking, from December 1, 2026, a maternity-leave substitute who, with a general and special educational approach, creates a safe and playful learning environment.

We are looking for a maternity-leave substitute who wishes to join an experienced and development-oriented staff group at a growing school. The position is event-based from December 1 with a one-week overlap. The temporary position lasts for the rest of the school year – and extends into the next school year with an unknown end date.

The substitution includes the subjects

• Danish, kri, n/t in 1st year with connection to Team 1
• Physical education for lower and middle/upper grades

We are a well-functioning school with good well-being and an ideal location in relation to forests, lakes and Silkeborg's cultural offerings. An active parents’ association supports the school, which also has good collaboration with local associations and institutions.

We often use the good surroundings in nature as learning spaces – Outdoor School. We prioritize a varied school day and subject days every Friday. We have worked with creativity, community and formation, and this focus will continue in the coming school year. We are in our 5th year as an MOT school.

Virklund School is a growing school. We are two/three-streamed with about 550 pupils and look ahead to becoming a three-stream school from grades 0–9 in the coming years.

We need

A professionally skilled, collaborative and curious teacher who masters clear and well-considered classroom management.

You are didactically well founded and, together with colleagues and leadership, interested in further developing good teaching with a general and special educational approach. We work with a culture where employees are able to reflect on and relate to their own and colleagues’ practices and dare to contribute to cross-professional collaboration between pedagogues and teachers.

We need you to have a natural desire to work with the youngest students in the early years and lower grades, where you, with relationship skills in play, are a clear adult for the students. Furthermore, we highly value that you can be a good sparring partner for both parents, colleagues and leadership. We expect that, as a teacher, the student is at the center of your work. You should also be passionate about teaching in creative and exciting ways, so that together we create the best day for the pupils at Virklund School.
