Maternity leave substitute – Head of daycare institution in Maniitsoq

Qeqqata Municipality seeks a dedicated and visible leader for a maternity leave replacement as head of the day care institutions in Maniitsoq.

As head of day care institutions you will have overall responsibility for the day care sector in Maniitsoq and the surrounding villages. You will become a central part of the work to ensure quality, development and good conditions for the children in the day care services.

About the position

The head of day care institutions is organizationally placed under the Education area and works closely with the head of education and other managers in the municipality.

You will be responsible for a total of 7 day care centers distributed across Maniitsoq town and 3 villages as well as a social consultant .

You will thus have an exciting and versatile leadership role, where you work with daily operations, staff management, finances, development and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Your most important tasks

As head of day care institutions your tasks will include

• Staff management, employee development and administration
• Ensuring good and clear leadership of the day care institutions
• Pedagogical and administrative supervision of the day care centers
• Follow-up on budgets, financial statements and financial management
• Budget planning and financial prioritization within the day care sector
• Supervision of the day care centers' buildings and follow-up on maintenance needs
• Ensure development of the pedagogical practice and quality in the day care centers
• Ensure smooth transitions from day care to school in collaboration with the schools
• Support good collaboration between the day care centers and the children's homes
• Ensure follow-up on the children's development and the mandatory screening tools
• Ongoing case handling and administration
• Preparation of cases, reports and briefings for management and political committees
• Coordination and collaboration across the municipality's departments
• Ensure good contact and knowledge sharing between the day care centers in Maniitsoq and the villages

You will play an important role in developing the children’s sector

Qeqqata Municipality wants a head of day care institutions who can help translate political goals and decisions into practice.

You should help set the direction for the good childhood and contribute to children experiencing safe, developmental and inclusive day care services.

An important part of the job is therefore also to be an active collaborator in the multidisciplinary cooperation around children and families.

• Are engaged in pedagogical development and employees' professional learning
• Are flexible and solution-oriented
• Have good communication and collaboration skills
• Can build good relationships with both staff, parents and partners
