About the job

Are you passionate about mathematics, and would you like to be part of a strong academic environment where teaching, well-being, and collegial sparring go hand in hand?

At Rude Skov School, Sjælsø division, we are seeking a mathematics teacher to start as soon as possible.

We are looking for a qualified teacher with a major subject or equivalent competences in mathematics. You will as a starting point teach in science and technology, physical education, and history in our 4th year in addition to mathematics. We expect you to teach about 25 lessons per week.

The position is initially full-time, but we are also open to 80% employment for the right candidate.

More about us

With us you will become part of a strong mathematics professional community.

We place a high emphasis on mathematics and work purposefully to challenge the academically strong students and support the students who need an extra hand. You will have access to a well-functioning network of mathematics mentors and colleagues who are happy to share experiences, materials, and ideas. From day one you can expect that your work computer and your preparation space are ready in your new team. As a new employee you will receive a thorough introduction to our IT systems and workflows, as well as a mentor who can help you settle in quickly.

What a typical working week might look like in the 2026/27 school year

Monday morning you walk into the class in year 4. The students are ready, and the week begins with mathematics, curious questions and those small moments when the pieces click for a student. During the week you will also teach science and technology, physical education, and history, and your days will alternate between academic immersion, activities, and shared experiences with the students.

Between lessons you meet your colleagues in the preparation room. Here you share ideas, experiences, and thoughts about the students’ development. Collaboration across the year group is close, and much of the planning is done together. You are never alone with the task, but are part of a team that helps and inspires each other.

One of the fixed moments of the week is the shared lunch. Here we gather across the department, discuss big and small things, laugh together, and talk with colleagues whom you might not meet during a busy school day. It is one of the places where the sense of community is clearly felt.

Normally Thursdays include a team meeting and occasionally a department meeting. But six times a year the week looks a little different. Here we have a team meeting day with time for immersion and joint development. Here we work on developing the teaching, planning upcoming LEAPS programs, and discussing the students’ academic and social development. These are days with time for good academic conversations and to think further ahead than the next teaching hour.

When the week ends, you may have taught fractions, been in the hall for physical education, planned a new LEAPS program with your colleagues, and witnessed a student succeed at something that was previously difficult. These are the kinds of weeks that await you at Rude Skov School.

About the school

Rude Skov School is a LEAPS school (Learning and engagement through authentic projects with a focus on science).

We work with reality-based teaching where students experience that what they learn matters outside the classroom. Through collaboration with Katafonden and local businesses we continually develop our project-based teaching.

You do not need to be an expert in project-based learning upfront. The most important thing is that you are curious and want to develop yourself together with us.

You will be assigned to Sjælsø department, which houses 0–5th year with two classes in most year groups. Here you will experience a close collegial community and a culture where we help each other and lift together.

At Rude Skov School we work from a shared view of children: Children do the best they can, and if a child does not succeed, it is the adults who must first examine what we can do differently. All children are welcome, but not all behavior. It obliges us to create strong learning communities where all students feel they belong.

Our annual well-being surveys show high well-being among both students and staff, and this is something we actively work to maintain.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • is a trained teacher
  • has competencies in mathematics
  • is passionate about students’ learning and development
  • sees value in collaboration and professional sparring
  • works inclusively and with strong relational skills
  • is curious about developing teaching
  • wants to contribute to a positive working environment
