Mechanic with an interest in practice-oriented mathematics sought for Motor and Mechanics at FGU Aalborg

Do you want to use your mechanical expertise in work with young people under 25 and at the same time make mathematics concrete and applicable in everyday life? At FGU Aalborg we are seeking a trained mechanic for our PGU group Motor and Mechanics.

About the position

As a teacher in Motor and Mechanics you will be a central part of the students' academic and personal development. You will be responsible for the practical teaching in the workshop in close partnership with another qualified mechanic. Together you create a safe, structured and professional workshop environment for the students.

Samtidig har du ansvaret for at undervise i matematik på FGU-niveau og føre eleverne frem til afsluttende prøve. Matematikken er praksisnær og udspringer direkte af de opgaver, I arbejder med på Motor og Mekanik – som beregning af materialeforbrug, måling, tekniske data, procenter, værkstedsøkonomi etc.

Your primary tasks

• take care of the practical teaching and daily life in Motor and Mechanics together with your mechanic colleague
• plan and carry out mathematics teaching integrated in concrete workshop tasks with the possibility for sparring with other mathematics teachers
• conduct and lead students to the final mathematics exam at the FGU level
• ongoing work with the students' well-being, attendance stability, collaboration and belief in their own abilities
• prepare professional and pedagogical documentation and evaluate the students' development
• participate in a close interdisciplinary collaboration with your workshop colleague, the teaching team and other relevant professionals.

We expect that you

• are a trained mechanic or have a corresponding relevant professional background
• thrive in working in a partnership and spar closely with a colleague in daily life
• are keen on – and preferably have experience with – working with young people with various academic, personal and social prerequisites
• can create safe and clear frameworks and build good relations with the students
• are familiar with mathematics in practice and are prepared to teach the subject and lead the students to the exam
• can structure your teaching, maintain an overview and prepare the necessary documentation.

Salary and workplace

• Workplace: FGU school in Aalborg (Struervej)
• Extent: Permanent employment, 37 hours per week
• Starting date: No later than December 1, 2026
• Salary and employment terms: In accordance with the current collective agreement for FGU teachers.
