Do you want to be part of a workplace where we dare to think differently, and where there is time and space for crazy ideas and ingenuity in teaching? Then you are exactly who we need at FGU Vest.

FGU Vest is seeking a DSA teacher and/or Danish as a second language teacher for our school in Varde, as we start a new course for young people with Danish as a second language. The course is carried out on the thematic area “Tourism, culture and leisure.” FGU Vest is based on being an inclusive, courageous and trust-based school for everyone who spends their daily hours with us. You join a team where we see the individual and the potential in every student. We give the students a voice and listen to their dreams.

Our task at FGU Vest is to prepare our students between 15 and 25 years for the next education/job. Our strategic initiatives are:

  • Committed communities

FGU Vest has learning as its core mission, where the students acquire personal, academic and social competencies through work processes they have influence over. The starting point for our teaching is the 15 didactic principles .

For us, an FGU teacher is characterized by having an appreciative approach, where we work together to create the best learning environment for our students.

You will both individually and in collaboration undertake the following pedagogical tasks

  • Planning, organizing and conducting Danish or Danish as a second language for our students.
  • Establishing good contact with the school's students, other collaborators such as KUI/UU-guidance counselors, and possibly parents.
  • Joint preparation with colleagues regarding the development of holistic teaching programs
  • Ongoing evaluations of the pedagogical practice.
  • Supporting a good learning environment.

Your professional competences

  • Master's degree in Danish as a second language or teaching Danish as a second and foreign language for adults and young people.
  • Alternatively qualified primary school teacher with Danish as a major subject and preferably several other general subjects relevant to FGU.
  • Have worked with, or have knowledge of, young people aged 15 to 25. Your insight into the target group may come from your experience as a teacher from e.g., FGU, the lower secondary school, 10th grade, VUC, an vocational school or similar.

You will be part of a local team and across locations/schools.

Personal competencies

We are looking for a teacher who is trust-building and who can establish good contacts and relationships both internally at the school and in relevant external environments. It is important that you are present, clear and empathetic.

We offer

We offer a unique opportunity to make a decisive impact on a new form of education in Denmark. With us there are good opportunities for personal and professional development, and we are characterized by a loyal and trust-based working environment, where there is an informal atmosphere and high ceilings. We have about 60 students at the school in Varde.
