About the job

Do you want to help tackle society's future cyber threats ? Do you have experience with government coordination and legislative work? Would you like to strengthen cyber- and information security in light of new challenges from quantum computers and AI?

About the Ministry of Civil Security and Emergency Preparedness

The Ministry of Civil Security and Emergency Preparedness, in close cooperation with the responsible sectors, is responsible for preventing, resisting and handling major accidents, crises, disasters and other events that challenge the fundamental functions of society – whether it's a cyberattack, sabotage, espionage or extreme weather events. The aim is to align preparedness, crisis management and resilience across sectors, so our society is stronger – both in everyday life and during crises.

The ministry consists of the department and two professional directorates: The Agency for Civil Protection and the Emergency Management Agency.

Your role and your tasks

We are looking for experienced staff for the cyber domain at the Ministry of Civil Security and Emergency Preparedness, who will help raise cybersecurity across society in Denmark and the EU. Very welcome are profiles who can navigate the interface between law and policy.

A central task will be working on implementation and guidance on cyber legislation, for example NIS 2, the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the Cyber Security Act (CSA) as well as ongoing follow-up on the national cyber- and information strategy 2026-29. In addition, you will – in collaboration with colleagues across the ministry's directorates and Slotsholmen – contribute to addressing new cyber challenges such as AI and quantum computers.

The office works continuously to strengthen operational readiness across society in light of the most serious and complex risk and threat landscape in recent times. As part of this, you may also work on the organizational development of a new cyber monitoring network and a cyber operations center, which will handle future cyber- and hybrid incidents within a unified framework.

Our international team works on cases and negotiations across the EU, NATO and Nordic cooperation. You will therefore also have the opportunity to work with both national and international issues in a field that is rapidly evolving.

In the office we emphasize being a cohesive, solution-oriented team, helping each other across teams and maintaining high professional standards while having fun together.

The tasks are arranged according to your competences.

  • Ministerial support, including preparation of decision papers, notes and other material.
  • Collaboration with relevant authorities, organizations and companies to enhance cybersecurity and follow up on incidents.
  • Professional sparring with the office's staff.

About you

You have a relevant academic education, e.g., cand.jur., cand.scient.pol., cand.polit. We would like you to have broad experience with government work – preferably from a ministry or another part of the central administration.

In addition we value that you

  • Are a good colleague who actively contributes to a good working environment and takes responsibility for the joint task solution, including with our underlying agencies.
  • Are professionally strong, curious and eager to study complex issues and translate them into concrete decision proposals.
  • Work in a structured, independent and solution-oriented manner with a clear view of when a matter requires coordination or sparring.
  • Have good collaboration skills and enjoy working with colleagues across offices, authorities and sectors.
  • Can maintain an overview and deliver high quality, even when tempo is high and deadlines are short.

It is advantageous if you

  • Have experience with cyber- and information security, IT governance or similar, for example within ISO27001, oversight, NIST, technical minimum requirements or similar.
