About the job

We are looking for you who want to be a significant adult for the children in our NEST class for 2nd grade at Vallerødskolen.

Do you want to contribute to giving children with autism or similar challenges a good and educational school experience?

Do you want to be part of a strong work community with a focus on professionalism, co-teaching and good pedagogy?

And do you want to help, in collaboration with colleagues, PPR and management, to further develop Nest at Vallerødskolen?

Then it is you we are looking for!

Vallerødskolen is seeking 1 full-time teacher for a permanent position who will be involved in the continued development of NEST at Vallerødskolen.

NEST is the designation for a pedagogical practice where children with ASD or autism-like challenges and children from the general education are part of the same class community. The classes consist of 12 children from the school district and 4 children who have been admitted to a place in NEST.

In NEST we work from the principles of co-teaching, and we have an ongoing focus on structure, visual supports and predictability. We also focus on your and your colleagues’ professional development, and therefore you will receive ongoing competence development and supervision, just as you will have to participate in team meetings and joint preparation meetings with a focus on the NEST principles. We work purposefully with the children's challenges and well-being throughout the entire school day.

We are looking for an employee who

  • is a trained teacher with a major in Danish and preferably with experience from the special education field, co-teaching or willingness to work with autism-friendly practice
  • is curious and exploratory about their own practice
  • is professionally grounded, structured and clear in their actions and communication with students, colleagues, management, PPR and parents
  • stands firm in relational work
  • is proactive in incorporating relevant knowledge from e.g. pedagogical notes and PPVs
  • works systematically with action plans
  • contributes positively to the collegial and professional community at the school

You will become part of an active and diverse school and after-school program with a great collegial community, lovely modern premises, wonderful surroundings where we are close to forest and coast, good facilities and a well-functioning collaboration across subject areas.

NEST-teacher in 2.B, Louise : - “I like working in the NEST class because it is exciting to work together on a class with co-teaching strategies – and the children love it. It just works.”

Additional information

Vallerødskolen is a two-and-a-half-track school with an after-school program (SFO), located in scenic surroundings. Currently the school has around 500 students and 90 staff members, all working from the three school values: Community, engagement and professionalism.
