About the job

Do you want to use your pedagogical expertise to create strong communities, new participation opportunities and strengthen life chances for children and youths?

Are you passionate about building relationships, opening doors and helping children and young people into positive communities? Are you good at turning ideas into action and creating collaboration between young people, associations, schools, clubs and local actors? Then you might be our new network-building employee.

We are seeking a trained pedagogue for the housing-social initiative in the Vandtårnsområdet, which through positive communities, educational activities and targeted bridging to local leisure offerings should help strengthen children and youths’ wellbeing, participation and life chances. The network-building function is a central driving force in the work to create strong and inclusive children- and youth communities and ensure that more children and young people find their way to positive networks and leisure communities.

Vandtårnsområdet is located in the northern part of Aarhus and consists of the housing developments: Vorrevangen, Kalmargade and Reginehøj

About the job

As a network-building employee you will be a visible and active resource in the local area. You will work outreach-oriented and relationship-building with activities as the pedagogical framework among children and youths and help them move further into positive communities.

You will have particular responsibility for developing and driving pedagogical initiatives within:

Study café and learning communities

  • Establish and develop a study café in collaboration with Ungdomsskolen UngiAarhus.
  • Recruit youths to the study café and create attractive and safe learning communities where youths support each other.
  • Pedagogically work with the youths’ motivation, mastery and belief in their own abilities.
  • Contribute to more youths completing education and strengthening their academic competences through an understanding of each individual youth’s prerequisites and potential barriers.

Pocket-money and leisure jobs

  • Initiate a pocket-money and leisure job café.
  • Collaborate with LommeGuld (a city-wide project) to recruit, motivate and support more 13-15-year-olds on their way to their first pocket-money job
  • Be proactive in creating local pocket-money jobs in close collaboration with the local area and many actors.

Bridge-building to positive children- and youth communities

  • Establish contact between children and youths and local associations, clubs and leisure activities.
  • Strengthen children and youths’ participation in positive communities and contribute to their social, cultural and democratic formation in close collaboration with local actors and communities.
  • Support holiday and club activities for children and youths in close cooperation with the local housing developer

Target group

The primary target group is children and youths aged 10-17 who are outside positive communities, as well as their parents. The initiative is implemented in close collaboration with the housing-social family coordinator, volunteer coordinator and housing-social caretaker with a view to creating holistic solutions around the whole family.

The secondary target group is young adults transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. Here the focus is on bridge-building to relevant municipal offerings within education, employment and guidance, so that the youths are supported in a positive transition to adult life.

We expect that you

  • Are a trained pedagogue.
  • Have experience with children and youths. Preferably in vulnerable or diverse housing areas.
  • Are strong in relationship-building and motivational conversations.
  • Can work outreach-oriented and make contact with youths who do not themselves find their way to the communities.
  • Thrive with facilitating collaborations across many actors.
  • Are proactive, independent and action-oriented.

We offer

  • A meaningful position with great significance for children and youths’ wellbeing and future.
  • Opportunity to influence and develop new initiatives.
  • A strong professional community with the housing-social work, associations and municipal actors in the local area in collaboration on initiatives for children and youths in the area.
  • High degree of freedom, responsibility and opportunity for professional development.
  • A daily life close to the children and youths whom the initiative is meant for.
  • Good colleagues who value professional discussions, collegial support and a laid-back and cheerful tone in daily life.

About the initiative

Many children and youths in Vandtårnsområdet are outside organized leisure communities and lack access to networks that can support education, life chances and wellbeing. As our future colleague you will be a central driving force in the work to strengthen children and youths’ participation in positive communities across Vorrevangen, Kalmargade and Reginehøj. You will have a 37-hour position with fixed workplaces in Beboerhuset Kalmargade and Bydelscafé Vorrevangen, but you must be prepared to work in the entire Vandtårnsområdet.

You will be responsible for developing, testing and implementing methods that mobilize children and youths to participate in meaningful communities. With a high degree of autonomy you will initiate and drive collaborations across the local community and create coherence between the initiatives in the area

The position is organizationally anchored in UngiAarhus and is part of a shared leadership structure between the local pedagogical leader and the housing-social leader. Together they ensure the professional direction, sparring, coordination and anchoring of the initiative across municipal and housing-social collaborations. The daily task management is handled by the housing-social leader based on ongoing discussions and priorities in a joint leadership team consisting of the housing-social leader and the local club’s pedagogical leader.

The position offers great freedom to put your own mark on the work. We are therefore looking for an employee who thrives on taking initiative, working independently, developing new solutions and translating ideas into concrete pedagogical activities and communities. You should be focused on the importance of the pedagogical framework for the children and youths.

It could for instance be

  • How do we support children and youths’ participation, influence and engagement?
  • How do we create good relationships and communities through activities?
  • How do we handle diversity and different needs in the community?

The work is based on the times when children and youths have free time. Therefore you must be prepared for flexible working hours, including afternoons, on average two evenings per week, as well as activities during school holiday periods and weekends.

Salary and employment terms

We offer a permanent position as a network-building employee, 37 hours/week. Salary and employment terms will be in accordance with the applicable agreement with BUPL.

Expected start date: January 1, 2027 or by agreement.

A child- and criminal-record check will be obtained and employment is conditional on the checks not showing that you are unsuitable/undesirable for the position. You can read more here about how we process your information here .
