About the job

Do you want to work with day surgery in a professionally strong community – without evening, night, and weekend shifts?

Would you like to become part of a work community where we help each other, take responsibility and also can laugh together in a busy everyday life?

At the Day Surgery Department (DK) at Zealand University Hospital in Roskilde, we are looking for a nurse who wants to develop professionally and contribute to good patient pathways and a good collegial atmosphere.

With us, we follow patients through a planned surgical pathway where safety, quality and good communication are essential. You don't need to know it all from day one. We will provide a good introduction and training, and we hope in return that you come with curiosity, engagement and a desire to be part of the team.

Who are we?

We are part of the Anesthesiology Department at Zealand University Hospital in Roskilde. We handle day-surgery pathways in gynecology, plastic surgery and breast surgery.

We work closely with the operating room staff and other professional groups around the patients. Our task is to create cohesive and safe patient pathways, where patients are warmly received, prepared for surgery, monitored in recovery, and helped safely home again.

The Day Surgery Department consists of 22 nurses and a social and health assistant, who every day contribute to making our patient pathways work. We have a varied daily life where collaboration, flexibility and professional overview are important.

We are different as people, but we must be able to trust each other, help each other and maintain a good tone of voice – even when it is busy. We value respect, humor, helpfulness and colleagues who take responsibility for both their tasks and the community.

Who do we hope you are?

You are a licensed nurse and preferably have experience from surgery, day surgery or recovery. You can also have experience from a completely different specialty and be keen to try something new.

We are not looking for a specific personality or a colleague who has to be like everyone else. We hope you are curious, responsible and open to learning new things, giving and receiving feedback, and contributing positively to collaboration.

We do not expect you to be able to do everything from the start – but we would like a colleague who is eager to contribute, develop and be part of the team.

What will you get with us?

  • A thorough and individually tailored introduction with training in the functions you will take care of.
  • Clinical buddy system and helpful colleagues.
  • Professional development through teaching. Journal Club and competency cards.
  • Opportunity for diploma studies in perioperative nursing, courses and special areas of responsibility.
  • An annual plan focused on professional development, well-being and job satisfaction.

Working hours

We offer a permanent position of 32-37 hours per week, and we will agree on the exact hours with the successful candidate.

At the Day Surgery Department you generally work day shift from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Some days may extend to 4:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. If you participate in the recovery function, there will be occasional late shifts ending at 5:00 p.m.

A department in development

As part of the consolidation of Zealand University Hospital, Roskilde’s functions are expected to become part of the hospital in Køge from January 2028. This provides new opportunities for development and collaboration, and we would like to have colleagues who want to join the journey.

We would like to get to know you – not just read your application

You do not need to write a long, traditional application. Send us your CV and 10-15 lines where you tell us:

  • What you bring – both professionally and personally?
  • What can your future colleagues expect from you in daily work?
  • Why do you think our work community could be a good match for you?

We are not looking for the perfect answer or the most polished wording. We would rather have an honest impression of you and what you value as a colleague.

Are you curious about us?

Changing jobs is a big decision, and it should feel right for both parties.

You are very welcome to contact us for an informal coffee and a tour before you apply. Then you can meet some of us, see the department and get a feel for our everyday life. We look forward to hearing from you!

We are holding ongoing interviews.
