About the job

In the Elder Reception we receive acute and subacute patients, and here we want to give fragile elderly a good reception at the hospital in calm surroundings. In our multidisciplinary team we work to make thorough assessments and plans for our patients, whether they are to be admitted or discharged again. We are scaling up in connection with a newly established collaboration on acute palliative patients, and therefore we are seeking nurses. If it sounds like something for you, please read on.

About the Elder Reception

At the Elder Reception we receive patients who are over 65 years old and who present with a geriatric issue. One of the purposes of the Elder Reception is to perform a geriatric holistic assessment in the acute phase. In addition, we aim to prevent admissions of the elderly medical patient, and we focus on incorporating the possibility of outpatient treatment or treatment at home.

Our geriatric team consists of geriatric physicians, a physiotherapist and nurses, and together we receive both planned and acute patients.

As a nurse in the geriatric team you have the first contact with the patients in the assessment phase, and you will handle nursing tasks such as sample collection, triage, anamnesis and basic acute nursing.

We place a high value on collaboration, and therefore there is a geriatric initial nursing assessment, where in the collaboration between patient, relatives, primary sector and the rest of the team, a plan for the patient’s further treatment and hospitalization or possible discharge is laid out. About half of our patients are discharged again to either home or a 24-hour care facility.

We meet not only the geriatric patients when they come in for assessment at the hospital, we also assess them at home via our outreach function. Every day two nurses go on home visits and follow up on patients’ hospitalization or started treatment at home. The visits range from blood sampling, assessment of the home situation, follow-up on e.g. pain plans, constipation etc. You will also be trained for this function in due course.

Who are you?

  • You have at least one year of experience in the acute field or medical specialties, and have a particular interest in the fragile elderly patient
  • You are passionate about complex and holistic nursing
  • You have commitment and good collaboration skills
  • You enjoy working in a coordinating function with many collaborators and many balls in the air, but at the same time you are also happy to work independently
  • You value interdisciplinarity
  • You are development-oriented, and would like to contribute to shaping the nursing in our geriatric team
  • In your work the patient is at the center

What can we offer you?

  • A tailored individual introductory program with mentor, knowledge sharing and sparring with colleagues and partners.
  • A versatile position with the opportunity to use your skills in, among other things, acute nursing, holistic geriatric nursing, communication and cross-sector collaboration
  • To become part of a strong multidisciplinary team. In the department we focus on developing competencies, and you will continuously be offered relevant courses and teaching corresponding to your competency level
  • Ongoing competence development including teaching and 15 professional minutes as well as relevant courses. In addition there is a good opportunity for interdisciplinary sparring.
  • Possibility to influence your own working time
  • A staff group with good humor, fantastic collaboration and a really good esprit de corps
