About the job

We can teach you everything about kidney diseases, but the most important thing is that you want to be part of us! Would you like to be part of a strong nursing professional community, where there is room for both professionalism, development and people? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for for our inpatient ward for kidney diseases at Sjællands Universitetshospital in Roskilde - soon Køge.

With us you don’t just get new colleagues. You become part of a community where we help each other, share our knowledge and are committed to creating good nursing care together.

We believe that high professionalism and a good work environment go hand in hand. That you should be able to ask questions, be curious and develop, whether you are newly qualified or have many years of experience, and we believe it should be pleasant to go to work.

Who are we? We are a ward with 17 beds, where we treat and care for patients with both acute and chronic kidney diseases. Our patients often have complex medical courses, and that places demands on our clinical eye, professional reflection and the ability to create coherence in patient pathways.

But nursing for patients with kidney disease is about much more than kidneys.

It is nursing where you go all the way around the patient. Where you have the opportunity to use your expertise broadly, develop your clinical skills and build relationships with patients and relatives.

We are a department in development, and have many projects underway to benefit our patients. But that does not mean we are not very aware of the importance of a good introduction, a strong community and a culture where we take responsibility for one another.

You don’t need to know anything about kidney diseases – yet! We will teach you that.

However, we hope you come with curiosity, a desire to learn and the courage to become part of our community.

We know that it takes time to become proficient in a new specialty. Therefore we prioritise a good and structured introduction, where you have the opportunity to grow with the tasks.

With us you will receive, among other things

  • An individually tailored introductory program with a mentor and competence card.
  • Close professional sparring with experienced colleagues and our clinical nursing specialist.
  • Opportunity for a foundational course in kidney diseases, teaching and our Nursing Renal Academy.
  • An environment where reflection, learning and development are a natural part of daily life.
  • Opportunity to engage in professional development projects and help shape the future of nursing.

We are proud of our nursing We work with Fundamentals of Care as an important part of our professional foundation. For us, good nursing is not only about treatment and procedures, but also about seeing the person behind the illness and creating security, dignity and coherence.

We have ambitions for our profession, and we continuously work to develop our practice. We do this, among other things, through nursing projects, research and close collaboration across professional groups.

We believe that the best solutions arise when employees’ knowledge, experiences and ideas are given space.

What do we hope you bring? We are not looking for a nurse who can do everything from day one.

We are looking for you who want to make a difference for the patients and be a good colleague.

You who are curious about nursing, dare to ask questions and want to develop. You who contribute to the community and know that we succeed best when we help each other.

You may be newly qualified. You may also have many years of experience and a desire to try something new.

The most important thing is that you want to be here.

And what about work life? We know that a good work life also includes life outside the hospital.

We offer employment with mixed shifts and as a rule work every third weekend. We strive to create good conditions for scheduling, taking both the individual and the community’s needs into account.

We are also facing an exciting future with the move to the new Zealand Zealand University Hospital in Køge in January 2028. Here you will have the opportunity to help shape our upcoming inpatient ward and the workflows on which we will build the nursing of the future.

Would you like to become one of us? Then we would love to hear from you.

You are also very welcome to drop by for a coffee and an informal chat. Meet your potentially future colleagues, see our ward and feel whether it could be something for you.

We look forward to hearing from you!
