Nurse responsible for general care

About the job

At The Health and Social Care Children's Team we are seeking an authorized nurse who is eager to become part of a stable team around a 16-year-old boy with special needs.

The position takes place in the boy's own home in Aarhus, where you will become an important part of his daily life and a secure support for both him and his family. Here nursing is not only about treatment, but also about presence, relationships and quality of life.

About the boy

The boy is 16 years old and has a developmental level equivalent to about 1½-5 years. During the day he attends school, so shifts are primarily around midday and the rest of the day and night. He lives with his mother, father and younger sister. He thrives on structure, recognisability and calm surroundings. He loves music, singing, dancing and playing, and a smile, a good song or a familiar routine can help create a safe and good day.

He has epilepsy, and after thorough training by the regular staff, you will take responsibility for observation, care and treatment based on his individual needs and treatment plan.

Your tasks

As a nurse you will become a central part of the health care effort and daily care. Your tasks include, among other things:

  • Observation and assessment of the boy's condition
  • Prevention and handling of epileptic seizures
  • Administration of regular medication and rescue/acute seizure medication
  • Handling of a Mic-Key feeding tube
  • Personal care, including bathing, teeth brushing and diaper changes
  • Tailoring activities and stimuli to the boy's needs
  • Creating security, structure and positive experiences in daily life
  • Close collaboration with the family, your colleagues and the team leader
  • Act professionally and calmly in acute situations

We are looking for you who

  • Are a licensed nurse
  • Work independently and take responsibility
  • Have a calm and caring presence
  • Are keen to build a close relationship with the child and family
  • Thrive in a small team
  • Preferably have experience with children with special needs or epilepsy – but this is not a requirement, as we provide thorough training

We offer

At The Health and Social Care Children’s Team you will be part of a workplace where professionalism, integrity and collaboration go hand in hand.

We offer, among other things

  • A meaningful everyday life where you make a difference for one child and one family at a time
  • Stable routines and high continuity
  • Thorough training so you feel confident in the task
  • Ongoing professional sparring and close contact with the team leader
  • An engaged team with a focus on collaboration and job satisfaction
  • Influence on the shift schedule

We believe that the best processes are created through stable relationships, high professional standards and close collaboration with the families. Therefore we prioritize both your professional development and a work environment where you never stand alone.

Working hours

The position is 12 hours per week with the possibility of more hours in the future.

Shifts can be arranged during day, evening, night and weekend. All night shifts are awake night shifts.

The shift plan is published at least four weeks in advance.

Salary and employment

Salary and employment are according to the applicable collective agreement.
