The position involves full-time work in the school's intermediate form, Mellemrummet.

In the intermediate form there are students from years 4-9 who for various reasons and to varying extents are part of the intermediate form. It is a mixed group of students, some of whom have been in school refusal. Most students have one or more diagnoses such as ADHD, autism or anxiety. This is not a group with outwardly disruptive behavior.

The students need clear structure and care.

An important part of the task is also to help the students achieve a better self-understanding and support development. Therefore there are also only a very few fixed adults who are with the students (and each other) from the day starts to the end — also during the students' breaks.

Because the students are often in school refusal or on the way to school refusal when they start in Mellemrummet, a lot of time is dedicated to relationship-building. We want to give the students calm in their nervous system, give them the opportunity to trust the adults and renewed belief in their own abilities both academically and socially.

The students receive adapted teaching in daily life. The job involves much more than just the academic, and you must be good at helping the students notice their progress, even when it may seem very small at times.

You will join a well-functioning intermediate form and have three colleagues who are passionate about the tasks.

We expect you to

• have a relevant education with experience within the special educational area.

It is not a requirement that you have experience from the public school system. You could, for example, also bring experience from special classes, family treatment, be a psychologist or similar.

• have strong relational competences

• have a fundamentally appreciative and empathetic approach in meeting the students
• have the abilities and willingness to engage in collaboration on the students' learning, wellbeing and personal mastery
• wish to contribute to close collaboration with parents and any external partners
• find it easy to create an overview and structure while being flexible and able to adjust if the students' needs call for something other than planned for the day
• have a calm and patient approach to meeting the students.

Østerhåbskolen is located in the southern part of Horsens. We operate in departments, and the school has four departments. The Torsted departments are divided into primary, middle and upper levels, and in addition there is primary and middle in the Hatting department.

Teamwork is in focus to be able to carry the school's task out in a qualified way. Teams work continuously with set goals for the team's work. We are organised so that the individual teams have great flexibility to work qualified with the core task: the students' learning and wellbeing.

All of the school's departments are located in an active local area with an engaged parent community. The school has about 1,450 wonderful students and an After-School Care (SFO) both in Hatting and Torsted with space for about 500 children. The school's competent staff group consists of about 140 engaged people.
