In the Children and Youth Homes Udby, children aged 6 to 18 live who need extra support in everyday life. As a care assistant you will become an important adult for children who need security, structure and care.

About the job

As a care assistant you are involved in the child’s entire day: morning and evening routines, school and leisure activities, meals and practical tasks in the house. You are also close when a child becomes unsettled or frustrated, and you help to create calm and overview.

The children have different challenges. That means you must be able to stay calm, create structure and be curious about what lies behind the child’s behavior. You will work in a fixed team around some of the children.

Your experience

You do not need to be a pedagogue, but we would like you to have experience with people with special needs – e.g. from a children’s and youth home, a residential facility, psychiatry or the disability sector.

We prepare you for the task

You will receive a thorough introduction and training program, where you get to know the children, our professional approach and workflows. Along the way you will receive support from experienced colleagues and managers, and there is an opportunity for relevant competency development.

Practical about the position

The positions are 30–37 hours per week with day and evening shifts as well as a weekend shift every other weekend. You have influence on your shift plan, and we focus on the balance between work and private life.

If you are not already employed in the Region of Southern Denmark, there is a 3-month probation period. A child and criminal record check will be obtained.

You must be able to present a driving license.

The region is obliged to inform you about the starting salary for the applied position. You will be told the base salary, centrally determined allowances and pension in OK24 64.41 Agreement for care and pedagogical assistants as well as pedagogical assistants . In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
