About the job
Are you our new emergency preparedness colleague?
Do you want to help strengthen the City of Copenhagen's crisis preparedness and ensure that we stand strong when unforeseen events challenge everyday life?
We are seeking one or two emergency preparedness colleagues who want to develop and support the municipality's emergency preparedness work, and who are ready to take action! You will have the opportunity to influence how we prevent, manage and follow up on crises and major incidents, thereby contributing to the municipality's ability to maintain its most important functions.
About the job and your responsibilities
You will become part of the work to develop and maintain the municipality's crisis preparedness. It is about both ensuring there are good plans and procedures and ensuring that the plans work in practice when an incident occurs. The municipality's crisis group is the focal point for this work and has the task of planning and coordinating crisis preparedness across the entire administration.
In the Climate, Environment and Technology Administration, we have among other things responsibility for areas such as climate, water, waste, construction and roads. These are areas that are affected by, for example, cloudbursts, storm surges and other extreme weather events. Larger crises can also arise due to, for example, power outages, internet outages or water contamination. In such situations, it is important that the administration can maintain its operations and cooperate with the municipality's other administrations.
Your tasks will concern both the ongoing emergency planning and ensuring that the organization is ready to act when a crisis occurs. Your primary tasks will be to
- coordinate and support the administration's crisis preparedness and crisis team
- analyze risks and vulnerabilities
- develop and maintain emergency plans, action plans, procedures and action cards and translate them into concrete emergency measures so that they work in practice
- write case documents, decision proposals and other documentation for management and the organization
- create an overview of emergency tasks and ensure coordination and follow-up
- develop and hold exercises so that the organization is better prepared to handle incidents
- collect and translate new knowledge about threats, risks and preparedness into concrete solutions
- work across administrations and authorities, with diverse tasks, as an incident rarely affects only one administration.
An important part of the job is to follow the emergency work all the way from analysis and planning to practical application in operations. This means that you must be able to delve into a problem and write a good and usable plan and follow up on its translation into practical workflows, where employees know their roles, have access to the right equipment and know what to do when an incident occurs.
You will become part of a newly established team with considerable latitude and freedom to ensure that the task is solved. The work takes place both at the desk and in real life. Also when it means you have to put on rubber boots on a cold December evening.
About you
We imagine that you have a relevant higher education within, for example, risk management, emergency preparedness, civil security, security management or a related area. You have an interest in how to identify and assess risks and translate them into concrete solutions that make an organization better prepared to handle unforeseen events. We particularly emphasize that you
- have a strong interest in risk management, emergency preparedness and civil security
- can analyze complex risks and dependencies and translate them into concrete emergency measures
- have a clear overview and can develop and evaluate exercises based on a plan
- work in a structured way with case handling, coordination, documentation and follow-up
- can communicate complex issues orally and in writing, so they are understandable for both managers, specialists and employees
- thrive with both the long-term tasks and the practical, and/or technical details that make the emergency preparedness work
- are good at collaborating across disciplines and organizations
- can maintain an overview when the situation changes quickly
- can navigate in a politically governed organization and balance professional considerations, operations, management and political decisions.
It is an advantage if you have experience with, for example, risk and vulnerability analyses, emergency planning, continuity planning, exercises or crisis management. It is also an advantage if you have experience from a technical, operational or authorities-oriented organization.
About the unit
You will become part of the Unit Cleanliness, Emergency preparedness and Public space, which among other things works to ensure that the municipality's crisis organization is well prepared for the current threat picture, and that tasks are carried out when daily operations are challenged.
The unit is located in the Department of City Nature and Cleanliness, which is part of the Climate, Environment and Technology Administration. You will come to work at Njalsgade with colleagues who have an informal tone, high ceilings and space for differences, where we help each other, share knowledge and value initiative, engagement and a good portion of humor.
You will become part of a larger community that reaches far into the Department of City Nature and Cleanliness, and across the entire Climate, Environment and Technology Administration. We take our tasks and responsibilities seriously, but not ourselves too solemnly. We believe that the best results are created in a work environment characterized by trust, open dialogue and good collaboration, where there is also room to ask, challenge and think new.
We are proud to work for Copenhagen.
Employment terms
The positions are permanent full-time positions with earliest possible start. Salary and terms of employment are negotiable and otherwise in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
