About the job

We are looking for an Onshore Transmission Design Manager to manage and coordinate the design development of the onshore transmission system for a large-scale offshore wind project in Taiwan.

As the primary technical interface with the EPC Contractor, you will ensure that engineering activities are coordinated, design solutions are fit for purpose, and project requirements are met throughout the design and execution phases.

You will report to the Onshore Transmission Package Manager. The position is full time and based in Taipei, Taiwan, with domestic and occasional international travel.

Your key responsibilities will include

• Lead and coordinate design management activities for the onshore transmission package, including technical coordination meetings with the EPC Contractor.
• Review, challenge and monitor the EPC Contractor’s engineering deliverables, methodologies and design proposals.
• Ensure consistency and integration across HV and MV equipment, protection, control and SCADA systems, high-voltage cables and transition joint bays, Balance of Plant facilities and grid connection infrastructure.
• Interpret critical parameters from electrical study reports to define technical specifications for HV, MV and LV equipment.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design reviews, consolidate feedback from subject matter experts, and resolve complex engineering and interface issues.
• Lead technical reviews and guide the EPC Contractor through Technical Bid Evaluations for major HV equipment packages.
• Support technical decision-making and the Package Manager on contract management, variations and claims, while promoting HSE-by-design and compliance with project quality and safety requirements.

About you

You bring a strong technical understanding of high-voltage transmission systems and substations, combined with experience in design management and engineering coordination. You are confident challenging contractors, facilitating technical discussions and bringing different disciplines together to develop robust solutions.

You take a structured, proactive and solution-oriented approach to your work. You communicate clearly, build effective working relationships and understand how technical decisions affect project costs, schedules and delivery objectives.

We expect you to bring

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in high-voltage transmission, substations, power infrastructure and grid connection projects.
• Proven experience managing and coordinating EPC Contractors on large, complex and multidisciplinary projects, preferably within offshore wind or transmission.
• Knowledge of construction methods, industry trends, together with commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery objectives.
• Strong stakeholder and interface management skills, including the ability to lead effective meetings and communicate complex technical matters.
• The ability to work effectively in an international, multicultural project environment, with excellent communication skills in English.

Previous experience in Taiwan or with Taiwanese contractors is an advantage. Mandarin Chinese language skills are strongly preferred.
