Open positions for Supreme Court judges

Two positions as Supreme Court judges are available from 1 September 2027.

Appointment as a Supreme Court judge requires that the person demonstrates his or her suitability during a trial vote in the Supreme Court, cf. the Danish Administration of Justice Act § 42, para. 5. The trial votes are expected to take place in four cases in the period April to June 2027.

Salary and employment terms

Employment is as a civil servant. The position is classified in salary band 41 corresponding to DKK 87,149 per month at the current level (August 1, 2026 level).

The position comes with a personal allowance of DKK 89,591 per month at the current level (August 1, 2026 level). A supplementary pension contribution of 17.1% of the allowance is paid.

You must attach a curriculum vitae, a scanned certificate and any possible High Court opinion, a suitably sized digital photo and any other statements. The application must be received in the recruitment system no later than Monday the 30. November 2026.

The Judicial Appointment Council is expected on Thursday 21 January 2027 to decide who is recommended for the positions. The Council’s recommendation will be published on the website on Friday 22 January 2027, at 14:00. Applicants who have been to an interview with the Council will be notified by phone between 13:00 and 13:30.

Attention is drawn to the fact that an applicant, pursuant to the Civil Servants Act § 5, para. 4, before the application deadline, may in writing request that information from the applicant list, which may be provided to applicants under Civil Servants Act § 5, para. 3, not be disclosed publicly. If so, the applicant list will be subject to a duty of confidentiality upon disclosure.
