Organist/church musician sought for Lomborg-Rom and Dybe-Ramme Parish Council

Would you like to help bring music to life in our four churches?

We are looking for an organist/church musician with a start date on 1 January or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is 14 hours per week.

About the parishes

Lomborg-Rom, Dybe and Ramme are three rural parishes in West Jutland, where the churches are a natural part of the local community. We have a good and close collaboration between the priest, staff, parish council and volunteers, and we emphasise that the churches are good places to be – both for worship and at life’s major events.

The position

We value our churches and the music that belongs to worship. Therefore we are seeking an organist/church musician who would like to become part of our church life and contribute to shaping the service, other church activities and events.

Your tasks will include

• playing at worship services and church ceremonies such as baptisms, weddings, funerals and burials
• playing at special worship services and religious holidays
• assisting at occasional events in the parishes by agreement
• collaborating with the priest, church singers, other staff and the parish council on worship services and church events

We are looking for someone who

• has a church music education or equivalent qualifications
• wants to play for worship services and church ceremonies
• has knowledge of the Folk Church’s worship and liturgy
• places emphasis on good and secure hymn accompaniment
• can work independently while also engaging in good cooperation with the priest, church singers, other staff, parish council and volunteers and use your professional skills for the benefit of church life
• meets people in a friendly and welcoming manner
• is flexible regarding working hours, as the work naturally includes Sundays, holidays and church ceremonies on weekdays

It is a prerequisite that you have a driving licence and a car and are willing to drive between the four churches.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment of a church musician will be covered by the Common Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and CO10 and the organizational agreement between the Ministry of Towns, Rural and Church and CO10 – The Central Organisation of 2010 for church officials with core tasks such as registrar, church and cultural staff or church musician, as well as the accompanying protocol for church musicians.

Hiring a trained organist will be covered by the Agreement between the Ministry of Towns, Rural and Church, CO10 – Central Organisation of 2010 and the Danish Organist and Cantor Society (DOKS) for organists.

Hiring organists with a church music bachelor or master degree (DOKS) is governed by the applicable protocol for DOKS organists.

Current civil service-employed organists have the right to retain their civil service status upon appointment with direct transfer. In that case, the position must be classified.

Applicants with a degree in organ and choir direction (formerly PO organist)

The annual salary for applicants with a degree in organ and choir direction (formerly PO organist) is agreed according to the agreed base pay system. Base pay step 1 is 350,435 DKK per year (current kroner) and base pay step 2 is 368,189 DKK per year (current kroner). Placement is according to seniority. There is a standby obligation in the position. The standby allowance amounts to 44,944.10 DKK per year (current kroner) for service at 4-6 churches.

Applicants who are church musicians

The annual salary for a church musician is negotiated within the range of 333,748 DKK – 475,590 DKK (current kroner). There is a standby obligation in the position. The standby allowance amounts to 27,641.26 DKK (current kroner). OK allowance of 1,082.22 DKK (current kroner).

An agreement on placement in the salary range is made between the parish council and the Danish Association of Church Musicians before employment.

Applicants with a church-music education (DOKS)

The annual salary for applicants with a church-music bachelor or master degree (DOKS) is negotiated according to the new pay-AC scale. For bachelor graduates the gross salary is between 332,306.00 – 417,156.00 DKK per year (current kroner). For master graduates it is between 363,169.00 – 442,529.00 DKK per year (current kroner). The mandatory standby allowance is paid. The standby allowance ranges annually between 46,726.59 – 72,572.63 DKK (current kroner). Placement and standby allowance are awarded according to seniority.
