Chief Physician to the Department of Hematology, Specialty Affiliation in the Myeloma Group with particular clinical responsibility for AL Amyloidosis

Center for Cancer and Organ Diseases, Department of Blood Diseases, has a full-time position as Senior Physician available for recruitment from 1 January 2027

Department's responsibilities and tasks

The Department of Blood Diseases RH is a hematology department that covers all diagnoses and treatments within the specialty. The department has a national function for allogeneic stem cell transplantation and erythroid diseases, and covers the hematology function in the Faroe Islands.

In the coming Region Østdanmark, the department has its intake area in four of the six health councils, but has a regional function for AL Amyloidosis.

The department has an extensive program for systematic education in blood diseases and related topics of internal medical interest.

The department has a large clinical research unit with many actively recruiting protocols, including phase 1 protocols, as well as a recent establishment of the platform trial Blood Dose. In addition, there are strong research groups attached to the department that perform translational clinical research, basic research and epidemiological research in relation to many hematologic diagnoses.

The position

The position is a senior physician role (overlæge) with association to the medical specialization group for Myelomatosis, Plasma cell dyscrasias and M-component-related diseases.

The position is associated with on-call obligations, as one participates in the hematology on-call function and has ward rounds on weekends and holidays.

The position includes a special professional responsibility for AL Amyloidosis and rare plasma cell neoplasms in collaboration with another senior physician in the field.

There will be opportunities in the position to participate in fulfilling the department's responsibilities in the hematology function in the Faroe Islands.

Candidate for the position

The position is intended to be filled with a specialist in internal medicine; hematology, who at the start of employment has a minimum of 5 years' experience as a specialist in a hematology department, and who has substantial experience in independently at the specialist level handling the entire patient treatment pathway within myeloma, AL Amyloidosis and other plasma cell neoplasms

Based on Rigshospitalet's visions of internationalization and connectedness, the recruitment process will place emphasis on experience with collaboration with colleagues and professional forums in Denmark and the Nordic region.

This dualism requires attention to both overarching and political priorities as well as joint decision-making. With a view to the position's key role in triage, planning and treatment of complex plasma cell and M-component-related diseases, emphasis will be placed on interest in and experience with collaboration with specialists within related disciplines; geriatrics, palliative care, nephrology, cardiology and neurology.

With a view to the role as a senior physician, emphasis will be placed on the candidate's contribution to the development of the department and its functions within the framework of Rigshospitalet's vision and the department's forthcoming tasks in Region Østdanmark.

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the agreement between Danish Regions and the Association of Specialist Doctors.
