About the job

Broager School is seeking a teaching assistant for Broager School's special classes range to be filled from January 1, 2027 - July 31, 2027. The position is 25 hours per week.

The school's special classes range has 40 pupils this year, and the vacant position is with students whose ages range from early years to lower secondary. Broager School also has about 500 pupils distributed across 3 departments.

We are looking for a teaching assistant

  • Who has experience with students with challenges.
  • Who enjoys physical activity, as the students need to move.
  • Who has experience in special education or who wishes to develop themselves further in the field.
  • Who is passionate about working with children aged 6-12.
  • Who can thrive in a daily routine that can be very unpredictable.

Working in a special classes range requires a particular personality. You must be able to embrace children who at times are unpredictable and require extra understanding and guidance. Our department is for students with ADHD and/or socio-emotional difficulties. We work with "Low Arousal" because we want to convey calm to the children rather than stress them.

You must be good at building relationships with children and young people. You must be willing to and have courage for the challenges associated with the special education area, including an extended team and parental collaboration. We focus on helping the students practise joining social communities and we work based on each individual child’s academic prerequisites.

The overall goals of the teaching are

  • That the pupils have the opportunity to develop, thrive and learn.
  • That the pupils' different prerequisites and different ways of learning are accommodated.
  • That the pupils acquire academic, personal, social and cultural competences.

Who are you?

  • You are the teacher's right hand
  • You are good at and enjoy doing physical activities with the pupils
  • You are inclusive and see the individual pupil
  • You value close teamwork
  • You are mentally robust and aware that some pupils may react significantly differently at times than peers in the general area

What can we offer?

  • A well-functioning public school with good physical facilities. Our school is located in a scenic natural setting close to the Flensburg Fjord.
  • We have a good colleague community and our staff is a good mix of young and more experienced colleagues. You will have good opportunities for both professional and personal sparring, so that you quickly fit in as a newcomer. You will be assigned a mentor when you start.
  • A school with good teaching spaces and a school that focuses on using good teaching materials.
  • A school with a strong team of professional supervisors
  • A school known for professionalism and a good working environment for children and adults
  • A workplace characterized by a high degree of trust in the individual employee
  • An exciting after-school care (SFO) with broad frameworks.
