About the job
Do you have experience with autism and a desire to make a difference for one person?
We are looking for an engaged, patient and relationship‑oriented pedagogical support person for a position of 30-32 hours per week on weekdays. You will work closely with one resident at Fjordnæs at Hundested Nursing Home and help to create a safe, structured and meaningful daily life with room for experiences, social relationships and quality of life.
We imagine that you have experience with people with autism and other cognitive or mental functional impairments. You may have worked in a residence or another service where individual support, relationship work and a pedagogical approach are part of everyday life.
You do not need a specific education. The most important is that you have relevant experience, can meet another person with understanding and respect, and want to find the solutions that work for just this resident. The personal chemistry between you and the resident will also be an important part of the good match.
About the position
You will become part of the staff at Fjordnæs and report to the area manager. Your primary task, however, is to provide individual 1:1 support to one specific resident.
The resident has a developmental disability and autism. Autism is the key factor in the resident’s functioning and has a high impact on the resident’s need for structure, predictability, recognizability and support in daily activities.
It requires a staff member who can work calmly, persistently and relationship‑oriented and who understands that what works in one situation does not necessarily work in another. You must be able to read the resident’s signals, adapt your approach and create a framework where the resident feels safe and has the opportunity to participate in activities on their own terms.
The position is about supporting the resident’s well‑being, independence and quality of life through individually tailored support. You must both be able to plan activities and be present when there is a need for calm, recognizability and time.
You do not participate in the general care of Fjordnæs’ other residents. Your focus is the one resident you are employed to support.
Your tasks
Your tasks will include, among other things, to
- Build a safe and trusting relationship with the resident and create a daily life characterized by recognizability and predictability.
- Plan and carry out activities based on the resident’s interests, wishes and needs.
- Support the resident in social contexts and help create good experiences together with others.
- Go on outings outside the home, e.g. a weekly trip to the swimming pool, sports events, shopping or other activities the resident enjoys.
- Work pedagogically with personal hygiene and bathing. The swimming pool is currently an important framework for the resident to bathe. This requires that you can motivate and support the resident in a respectful and patient manner.
- Create meaningful moments in the resident’s own home, e.g. with games, movies, music or other activities.
- Support structure and recognizability in daily life and help the resident with transitions between activities.
- Observe the resident’s well‑being and reactions and contribute to relevant documentation and professional sparring with colleagues.
- Collaborate with the area manager and relevant staff to ensure a coherent and professionally grounded effort.
- You must be able to work purposefully with small steps and understand that development and well‑being are often created through repetition, trust and persistent effort.
Who are you?
We imagine that you
- Have experience with people with autism and preferably also developmental disabilities or other complex support needs.
- Have worked in a residence, a specialized service or in a similar role with individual support.
- Are patient, stable and good at building relationships.
- Can work in a structured and predictable way while also adapting your approach to the resident’s daily form and needs.
- Have a calm and acknowledging approach and can support without pressing unnecessarily.
- Understand that personal hygiene and other daily activities may require special pedagogical strategies.
- Can work independently, take initiative and plan activities.
- Are good at collaborating, sharing observations and receiving professional sparring.
- Have a driving license and are comfortable transporting the resident on outings.
You do not need a specific educational background. We value your experience, your approach to people and your ability to create a good relationship. It is important that you can see possibilities rather than limitations and want to get to know the individual resident well.
We offer
- A meaningful position where you have the opportunity to make a concrete difference for one person.
- Opportunity to bring your experience with autism and individual support work into play.
- A position focused on relationships, activities and quality of life.
- A collegial community at Fjordnæs with opportunities for sparring and collaboration.
- Possibility to influence the planning of the resident’s daily life within the agreed professional framework.
- A position of 30-32 hours per week on weekdays.
Transport: A driving license is required. The care home provides a bus after 14:00. Activities and outings are planned with regard to practical possibilities.
